Well, try this: your top law enforcement official is a fascist and the average summer temperature is like 9000 degrees, plus the Cardinals suck.

And that's just to start.

Not here it's not.  Sounds like someone is looking for page hits...or trying to discourage people from leaving LA (and California) in droves.

I can't imagine actually living in Vegas. That entire city is basically one gigantic beatdown 24 hours a days. Great place to visit, would NEVER live there.

But, if a Vegas farker can give a positive perspective on what it's like actually living in Vegas, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Both places suck.

However, if we demolished both cities are started anew I'll concede I'd rather start anew in LA. The area once upon a time was beautiful.

Driving in Phoenix is fun.

Yuppys driving 80 mph over the speed limit in their sports cars mixed with 90 year old retirees in their 2 ton Caddys.

I don't want to live in either place.  LA steals all it's water from up north so it's no paradise either. It at least has some culture to go along with it.  Phoenix is just going to get hotter and worse. Northern Arizona once you get up on the Rim is nicer, but you still gotta worry about the lack of rain.

I live in L.A. but have also visited Phoenix.  I prefer L.A.  I can smoke pot on the beach while being very brown/tan.   Tombstone is a lot of fun, though.

Obviously, you may have missed the traffic in Phoenix, that Phoenix is one of the plastic surgery capitals of the world, and haven't exactly seen Phoenix's finest in action...

As a former resident of Maricopa, I wouldn't live there again. Then again, you couldn't pay me to live in LA either, so there's that.

Violent Winds?  The Haboobs are far from tornados. They look impressive, but the worse thing they do is dirty your pool.

At least we don't have earthquakes threatening to tear apart our infrastructure. It's only a matter of time, LA.

Phoenix ain't a bad town - there's stuff to do there now, and there is culture and all that good stuff - and of course, a whole lot of great outdoor scenic beauty in the surrounding area. But the weather is a deal-breaker - I just can't deal with it. LA has it's problems, too - but I've lived here all the urban years of my life, and until I leave urban life altogether, I may as well stay here. I know I'm a disappointment - i don't hate anybody or anyplace enough to be any fun in these discussions.
Except Gallup, New Mexico. That place is right out.

Tucson is cleaner, cooler, less crowded, and friendlier than Phoenix.  It's also closer to good skiing, hiking, and camping and has better Mexican food (Cafe Poca Cosa & Casa Molina > anything Phoenix has to offer).  The only good thing that Phoenix has that Tucson lacks is an IMAX theater.

Not disagreeing with your sentiment, Tucson is >>>>> PHX, but Tucson traffic is awful with no east west freeway system, and the city government is extremely corrupt.

Pot, kettle.

Phoenix isn't a good place to live. I call it "Hell" for a reason and it's not just the heat.

But compared to LA, Phoenix is almost heaven.

I'm living in Phoenix so I'm really getting a kick out of these...

Okay, in all seriousness, I moved here about 15 years ago and couldn't wait to get out. Judging from that sentence you can see how successful I was. :)  When a sweet young thing bats her eyes at you and has strong family ties here, you can adjust your paradigm accordingly. ;)

Pretty much every place is a trade off.  Yes, summer sucks here, and pretty much everyone keeps a little money socked away to make sure the AC bill is paid and your AC unit is always working. I also miss green fields, forests, and plentiful rainfall. It's also very much a black hole for old people to get sucked into.

On the flip side, winters here are beautiful, or as a local put it we put up with about five months of sheer Hell to get seven months of pure Heaven.  The state really is beautiful with many scenic vistas and parks to explore (it's a hiker's dream). And the old people leave when it gets too hot in the summer, so it's not like they're a permanent problem.

Throw in great southwestern chow (if you like cumin and cilantro, we can feed you!) and I don't really regret staying around too much. Are there other places I'd rather be? Maybe, but this'll do fine for now.

/But always make sure that AC bill is paid up! :)

Having just moved from LA (21 years, ughh) to Phoenix last March, I can say Phoenix is far superior in every way except weather and ocean access.  Drove to work this morning averaging 70 MPH today, awesome.

Tucson is an absolute trainwreck of a city to live in.  Phoenix may be a soul-sucking hellhole, but jesus, at least you can get somewhere in it in a manner that doesn't involve spending an hour going from red light to red light, screaming at old people all the way.

It's fair to say I hate the entire southern part of the state; I just hate Tucson more because I was forced to grow up there.  The only part of Arizona I adore is Northern Arizona - specifically, Flagstaff.  I love that town to death (yes, go Jacks~), and I worry every summer that this is going to be the year everything goes up in flames.

LA is just angry because we keep sending our undocumented workers to them and it doesn't make sense because LA looooves undocumented workers.

I like both PHX and LA, but for daily living I prefer PHX weather, cost of living and traffic. East valley traffic is especially superior to LA traffic by orders of magnitude. Sorry LA!

Tucson is better than Phoenix except for the roads. I have a problem with a road being called Speedway and the speed limit is 35 mph.

Oh and the smell as you're driving into Tucson... that's pretty gnarly.
