legion_of_doo: Apple had that feature first!
Heamer: If programmers were armed, this kind of thing wouldn't happen.
pkrzycki: feature feature repeated word is repeated word
MightyPez: legion_of_doo: Apple had that feature first!I'm pretty sure it was Sony, actually. It just so happens those batteries were sold to a lot of different companies.
Bit'O'Gristle: Sorry guy, out of warranty means just that. writing a letter isnt going to get you shiat.
IrateShadow: Batteries these days are pretty energy dense. You just found out what happens when they decide to release it all at once.
Satanic_Hamster: Oh, and it was on a two year old laptop.Subby fail.
nmemkha: [cdn.ebaumsworld.com image 99x101]BOOM! Battery CHARGED!
sn82: If the picture is any indication, I'd buy an acer just to watch it do that.
Satanic_Hamster: sn82: If the picture is any indication, I'd buy an acer just to watch it do that.Bought an Acer in December:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230580Wait.I bought an Asus. Nevermind.
SamWaters: From small devices to large, batteries are problematical. Here is the burning burnt hulk from the Dreamliner.
Enemabag Jones: I don't mean to shill for Acer here, but I gotta say.Bottom of the line Acer laptops are not necessarily meant to last forever. And you can either pull out the battery or probably find a new one on ebay for $35 dollars.Assuming it does not blow up in your lap, there are bigger problems in the world./Why hasn't anyone come up with a battery free laptop aimed at the consumer market, isn't it really like 4wd on an Eddie Bauer for explorer. I'm going to do it anyway.
Claude Ballse: It's a thermal event with a Lithium Ion battery
Claude Ballse: It's a thermal event with a Lithium Ion battery. Nothing new at all. Hell, even Hybrid cars are susceptible to a battery fire if the accident they're in is significant enough to cause internal damage. Also of note is if you take your iPhone/Droid/iPad/Samsung Galaxy to Achmed' & Nguyen's cell phone repair, or you buy no-name batteries off eBay or Amazon, you can expect that you're putting yourself at the same risk since training on how to handle and rebuild these unit's isn't a top priority for them. After all, why spend money on safety items when they can just pass the savings on to you!
