thecpt: Treygreen13: Cowboys lose Kevin Ogletree to the Bucs. Look out, whoever is playing the Bucs in Week 1. Everyone playing the Bucs in another week, rest easy.

Ogletree week 1:

Ogletree weeks 2-17:

I remember when everyone was losing their shiat trying to add him after that opening game. People talking about how they were going to start him at WR1 the next week. People bragging they had the foresight to start Ogletree in Week 1 and showing their point totals. Ha. Anyone starting Ogletree was starting him because they were desperate at WR that week.

I told them to pump the brakes, Ogletree had a good night and showed some potential but he'd been disappointing before and would probably continue to do so. No telling how many points that dud-to-stud-to-dud transition cost fantasy kneejerkers.

/worst knickname in the nfl or worst knickname in sports?

I failed at grabbing him, but I thought he was going to be the annual Dallas WR 3 that becomes a FF hero.  Austin, Robinson (nobody grabbed him and he had a pretty solid season that year), and then Ogletree had that game.  I don't blame people for picking him up, if not just for speculation but bragging is waaay over the top.

Done deal, Barwin to the Eagles.

Mobile fark won't quote properly. As the other guys said: We have the best RB in the league, all pro TE, top 10 OLine. You will get single coverage for a while, then they'll double you, then Rudolph or AP will get free. You will be THE guy here. Oh and here's shiattons of money.

No worries about whiffing on him because of the "Dallas WR3" angle. Laurent Robinson proved that to be true - but Ogletree was always sort of a fark-up. I feel the same way about Ogletree as I do about Marty B.

Wow. Jackson took a dook on Packer nation to join the fail train.

Speaking of hats, Leon Washington just tweeted a picture of himself wearing a Pats one.

Picking off as many NFCW players as they can I see.

Based on what exactly?

FA and the draft arent over, so it seems fairly hard to gauge the nfc south right now.

Unless the saints magically get more cap room and their draft picks back, or payton and rob (no the other one) can work some coaching miracles, possibly if the bucs can somehow free agency themselves up a defense id still say the falcons are the favorites going forward.

Mateorocks: digistil: robsul82: The Matt Cassel Era dawns in Minnesota.  Perhaps just for the clipboards.

Thank god.

I'm a Chiefs fan for some reason, and not a Cassel apologist, but I do think a lot of the problems he had in KC had to do with coaching and not necessarily his game management skills. The Chiefs were just a tragic mess last year in a lot of different ways, obviously. But under a better coordinator, Cassel actually played well enough to make a Pro Bowl.

If KC had kept him, as a starter I think he would have drastically improved under Reid.

I'm a KC guy that's been skeptical of him since day one, and I think he was mediocre at best. A couple of things about that Pro Bowl year:

1) It was done against the third-easiest schedule in the history of the league
2) He had the lowest YPA of any starting QB that year
3) As teams figured him and the system out late in the year, he got crushed (see the Oakland and Baltimore games)
4) He was the fifth QB selected for the Pro Bowl in the AFC that year (after Brady, Manning, Rivers, and Roethlisburger, who was playing in the Super Bowl)
5) He had the benefit of playing with one of the best RBs and WRs in the game, or at the very least top-10 each. Rodgers, Brees, Brady, etc. have done far more with less (which I realize is a high standard, but it also

I feel a LOT better with Smith and Daniel in the fold than Cassel and any of his backups.

I'm just sayin he could improve the Vikings.

Believe me, I don't miss him.

Jim from Saint Paul: Now your about 9 players from a real defense again. Congrats!/I hear Winfield is available//New Orleans, where Vikings Secondary players go to graze./// :-p

I dunno man. I want Winfield to stay until his production slides. He's still the best on that side of the ball we have.

/Were you joking; not sure.

They cut Winfield.

No point in the Bears spending any money on him.  It does not matter how much your defense sucks if you have a middling level talent asshat at QB.

Anyone who knows what they are watching can tell that Urlacher can't run anymore.  For what the Bears would get, he's asking too much money.  The Bears rightfully didn't counter, letting him see what kind of offers he can get elsewhere.  Probably won't be much.

In football you don't pay for what someone has done, it's what they will do.  Anyway, they've redone Urlacher's contract a couple of times.  He really has nothing to complain about.

And Urlacher ~isn't~ complaining. Not in the slightest. He has fully admitted he isn't going to get a big contract or big money, and also said he'll probably retire if the Bears don't take him back. He is fully aware of the situation, and just biding time.

The Bears are also very aware of what Urlacher would bring to the table in a one or two year deal, leadership. With a complete coaching staff change, having his eyes and his leadership on the field is an intangible that would transcend the loss of speed. With Roach gone, I'll take a 60-70% Urlacher over the next best option.
