The Great EZE: Do what you gotta do, man. I don't want a team I like to try to fit loyalty under a salary cap.
Slives: Hasn't Urlacher missed something like half of the last 2 seasons with injuries? He won't end up with the Vikings.I will bet he will go to Dallas, where Jerry Jones still thinks he can get miracle seasons out of older stars.
meanmutton: Oh, for fark's sake, this is the NFL. It's a business. Your contract's up, your contract's up. The team will be more than happy to cut you lose the moment you're no longer able to play at a high enough level; you'd be stupid not to treat them with the exact same level of loyalty. Get as much money as you possibly can, playing for whomever you can.
downtownkid: Between this and Favre the Vikings are the trolls of the league.
Urlacher wants 5.5 millionish. Why the fark would we cut 36 year old Winfield, who had 110 tackles at 35 years old at 7.25 mill and then go after 35 year old Urlacher?Spielman, you suck at free agency.
Jim from Saint Paul: ORSo he plays WR now? SWEET!Spielman, you suck at free agency.
BunkoSquad: [thumbnails.hulu.com image 384x288]Bearss vs. Vikings, Urlacher plays da entire game in a Vikings jersey. Who ya got?BEARSS 146, Vikings 10
IAmRight: Jim from Saint Paul: ORSo he plays WR now? SWEET!Spielman, you suck at free agency.Hey, Jennings is talking to him, too./probably need to re-consider the "get players from division rivals after the division rivals decide they're not useful to them anymore" strategy//there is that chance you get 2009 Favre out of it...but probably not
Jim from Saint Paul: Longwell won multiple games for us even.
DeathByGeekSquad: I'm going with this being a negotiating tool. Da Bears don't like ex-Bears ending up on NFC North rosters. By talking with a nearby team (NFC North), it shows that Urlacher is serious about considering other offers, but pressuring Da Bears to make a plunge for a little more than they may want to in order to prevent a rival from acquiring someone who knows the entire defense like the back of his hand.If an NFC North rival gets Urlacher...he's basically a 'How-To-Win' manual.
thecpt: free agency thread? Cassel just added another incompletion: his contract.
thecpt: oh gawd. so many lols. The Vikes are interested in Cassel. Please, for the love of buttfumble make that happen.
Jim from Saint Paul: thecpt: oh gawd. so many lols. The Vikes are interested in Cassel. Please, for the love of buttfumble make that happen. He'd be better then Webb.
MNguy: downtownkid: Between this and Favre the Vikings are the trolls of the league. You forgot Warren Moon, Roger Craig, Randall Cunningham...I'm sure there's more. At least we have all those Super Bowl trophies to help us sleep at night.
deanis: MNguy: downtownkid: Between this and Favre the Vikings are the trolls of the league. You forgot Warren Moon, Roger Craig, Randall Cunningham...I'm sure there's more. At least we have all those Super Bowl trophies to help us sleep at night.Yeah and Fark you all if Jennings signs today.
Mr_Fabulous: The guy's value as a field general is the most intangible factor here. The defense plays much better when he's on the field, calling out assignments and such.Sign him to a substantial one-year deal, then draft his replacement. (And no, for fark's sake, I'm not talking about Manti the Catfish.)
VvonderJesus: Meanwhile, the Vikings figure the best way to piss off their fanbase is cut all the popular (and good) players and continue to spend as little money as possible now that they have their shiny new house.
Fallout Zone: Jim from Saint Paul: thecpt: oh gawd. so many lols. The Vikes are interested in Cassel. Please, for the love of buttfumble make that happen. He'd be better then Webb.A 6th lineman for Peterson would be better than having Webb at QB.
japlemon: Jennings is doing this to increase the offer from the Packers. And I have no problem with him doing it. Pay the good man, TT!
DeathByGeekSquad: If an NFC North rival gets Urlacher...he's basically a 'How-To-Win' manual.
lennavan: The Bears go 0-16 losing all games 0-3.
lennavan: On Offense:Rush the ball over and over until you get one field goal.Just kneel on the ball the rest of the game.
