Mugato: WTF is there to do on a cruise anyway? I'm not a big eater and that's all I ever hear from people who go on cruises is the food. Of course these are mostly morbidly obese women I'm talking to so the opinion might be skewed.

I went on one cruise a few years ago.  It was a Carnival ship, but I had a penthouse suite (had a personal attendant to take care of things, private table for dinner, etc).  I ended the cruise in a state of relaxation I haven't obtained in years.

There is the food ... but the thing for me was for seven days everything was taken care of.  Left the room to walk the deck?  I got back and the whole room was made up again.  When you get to port you can go to a pre-planned excursion or just wander around the island for a while.  In St. Maarten, we got off and went to a small catamaran that sailed us over to a private beach.  We swam to the beach and relaxed, drank wine, etc.  A few hours later we got back on the boat and we sailed to the dock where we got off and spent the last few hours window shopping.  We got back on the cruise ship, cleaned up, and went to dinner.  You stay up late, have fun, go to bed, and when you wake up you are at a new island.

Just about everything on the boat (minus alcohol) is free.  For me, sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean at sunset while reading a book was the best part.  It's one full week of doing whatever makes you happy at the time, and nothing you don't want to do.  No laundry, no grocery shopping, no answering the phone call from your boss.

I had so much fun that I would have gone on a Carnival cruise again, even after the one incident where the boat broke down.  Now that two other ships have had problems (including the Glory, which would have likely been the boat I would travel on next), not a chance.

Oops, swap Glory with Dream.
