The comments are great:

Taxes went up for people who make 18k a year even more of a percentage than the sequester cuts did. When obama says tax reform is is saying tax increases. And these increases wont go towards balancing the budget but more govt spending on the DHS ammo buys, drones, and for obama to vacation more. He has spent 165 billion of vacationing alone which is just plain ridiculous. That would cover the sequester a couple of times!!!

Hear, hear! It is no surprise that Obama does not want to give in. Boehner is part of the Illluminati sequestration conspiracy. The major media won't cover it, but there is convincing material online.

Okay, which one of you did that?

I thought he got 98% of what he wanted?

I almost feel bad for John Boehner. How was he supposed to know that by the time he got to hold the gavel, his party would evolve into an organization bereft of ideas, and beholden completely to moneyed interests?

He pretty much has to say this sh*t just so he doesn't get primaried by some whackaloon from the sticks.

Only an organization bereft of ideas and beholden completely to moneyed interests would allow John Boehner anywhere near a position of leadership.

It's kinda tragic, isn't it? He gets 98% of what he wanted, then he wants more; and when he doesn't get more, that lowers his percentage, and now he's drowning Washington in his tears.

Hey Republicans, there was 6-7 years of booming economy during the Bush presidency. But the budget was never balanced and the deficit grew every year.

Somehow I don't remember hearing the screaming, tantrums that like about how bad such a huge debt was to our country. There were economists saying it, sure. But the politicians sure seemed to ignore it.

Maybe if you really thought this was an issue, you should have tried to actually do something when the economy could handle it.

I believe to Republicans are set to or have already voted on a bill addressing Obama's "attempt to strip work requirements from Welfare"... Think about that for a second. They're voting on a bill addressing something that was essentially a calculated lie by the Romney Campaign to drum up outrage among white rural Americans.

These people do not operate in reality. Why would you expect the cretins that vote for them to?

It pisses me off that Speaker Boehner, or other public faces of the Republican Party for that matter, can be so blatantly disingenuous without any serious rebuke. We joke about how our country is doomed, but if the kind of politics we've been seeing from the Right for the past 12+ years remains acceptable, that might be where we're headed.

It often seems that whenever NPR plays an audio clip of Boehner speaking, it's just like that, and I yell at the radio and/or turn it off.

The worst job and GDP growth of any administration since Eisenhower. Link

Between the end of the 2001 recession (2001Q4) and the peak of that expansion (2007Q4), the U.S. economy experienced the worst economic expansion of the post-war era. Link, .pdf

That's before the crash, mind you. Same sorry story for wages, jobs, and income inequality.

I understand how people think those years weren't that economically bad -- they didn't feel all that bad to many people. It's the same situation that Clinton spoke about at the DNC this year. We're in a recovery but many people aren't feeling it yet.

Honestly, I don't think there is a bag of dicks in the universe massive enough for that blubbering dayglo abortion. We'll need to use the LHC to open a wormhole into a parallel universe comprised entirely of dicks. Then, and only then, will we have enough dicks.
