GoodOmens: darkscout: Easy if you're a hot college female.

Not so easy if you're a 30 year old male.

"They even convinced Irish musician Chris de Burgh to pay for their ticket home".

I hope he didn't pay the ferryman, until he got them to the other side though.

A group of Irish travelers set out to see how far they could get without spending a cent - and you'd be amazed at how far they made it.

my guess is they got around by stealing and running fake handyman scams.

/hey, we got some extra tar from a job around the block, we can repave your driveway for a good price!

durbnpoisn: Sudlow: Or not. Apparently you could be "sponsored" by a travel agency.

Thank you for clearing that up.  Because I could NOT figure out how any of this was possible unless someone was funding it.  Also...  The winning pair got a (reasonably) famous musician to front the money for the tickets home?  And they somehow raised 5 figures in donations?!

There is SO something totally left out of this story.  They make it sound like it was miraculously ingeneuos for them to have made it that far.  Yet, they are leaving out that they had benefactors all the way.
So, I call shenanigans on the whole thing.

Glad they had a good time, though.  Good for them.

Pssst, most charities are scammy shell games used to move tax free dollars around. Weird looking financial shenanigans are a natural consequence.

Sudlow: So the lesson here is that security at Irish airports really sucks?

Airport security sucks in general. My hubby worked as a cleaner for an airport and there's so many security holes it was ridiculous.

Anyone with some Brains could find them with some thought, time, and a bit of luck.

Murder attempts by your wife on you?
Murder attempts by your wife's many lovers on you?
Murder attempts by you to defend your hot wife?
Murder attemps by you on your wife for being a woman?
Or Murder attempts in general worldwide?

Be specific.

When a redhead asks you to teach them how to shoot a weapon, don't.

Sometimes your stupid will burn like a 357 in the gut.

If I can believe what she told a former friend years ago, the fact that she tried to kill me so many times, and failed, led her to fear that I really was evil. Mostly just threats, but the shooting, and the time I threw out the milkshake she gave me after I crunched on a chunk of horse tranq, hitting me with the car, twice, I knew about those.

But puting racing fuel in the yard equipment hopeing it would blow up, trying to blow up the car with a pipe bomb, paying someone $500 to kill me, but I guess he just took the money and ran, damned dishonest people, placeing wire across the riding path, drilling a hole in my boat, trying to splash me with acid, bleach, and gasoline, there were several others. Yeah, got my hackles up to hear about those. Most of it I had just passed of as almost accidents.

I really think she was buying her supplies at Acme, she had about that kind of luck. This former friend and several others always thought she was kidding, but during the divorce, she tried to get her to kill me for the insurance, but her husband tipped me off, and I had a little talk with her PO.

I looked around, and I don't even have a pic of her anymore. No wedding pic, no amature bikini model photos, none of the nudes. Wow, she really was hot in the day, 50 and fat now, and I avoid her at all costs. She was a real peach after I hit her with my walking papers, I don't even have a pic of me and my kids when they were babies.

Took me 20 years to figure out the "Don't stick it in crazy", wasn't just funny, but a commandment.
