And this is different from regular cheddar cheese, other than the color, how?

I'd be surprised if any of it was actually cheddar at all, but rather artificially flavored processed American cheese products.

So, really, the difference is just the color.

250 calories, compared with 300 calories for a regular Egg McMuffin.

Is 50 calories a big enough deal for a press release?

It's hard to beat a egg and cheese McMuffin and orange juice after a night of drinking.

antidisestablishmentarianism: While the McMuffin is plain, the McGriddle is farking delicious.

Tried one of those when they first came out. Much to sweet for me.

I didn't care for them when they first came out but a few years later it became my breakfast on the way to Class every morning.

i assume all fast food cheese is actually cheese product... but, in the real world, i usually think of white cheddar as being sharper than orange cheddar product.

Yeah, egg yolks. That's the big problem with McDonalds. Egg yolks. Obesity epidemic solved- book it... done!.

I like their steak egg and cheese bagel, but it's definitely one of those things you can only eat occasionally. Frankly, I'm more worried about the sodium level in their crap than the fat, though. I don't eat there often enough to worry about the fat, but eating 1200-1500mg of sodium in one sitting like that can't be good for the heart.

Why the hell do so many American restaurants seem to think "salt" is the only flavor food can have, anyway?

Why do food sellers insist on calling it "Canadian bacon" instead of deli ham, which is what it really is?

Crescent Supreme at Jack in the Crack is far superior. Sausage Supreme is close second.

I spent a decade eating a Crescent Supreme, large curly fry and tub of Coke for breakfast every Sunday. And I still have my extremities!!1!

because it's a preservative.  that 'food' was made last month in some factory.

The yolk will be back when McDonald's improves their technology to make it as rubbery and nutrition-free as the egg whites.

Came to point that out.  Most cheddars you know, even in the fancy aisle, have food coloring added.  Natural cheddar is pale.

Sausage McMuffin with Egg is my favorite.  It's leaps and bounds above anything else McD's offers.  I wish they served it all day...

.. my wasteline is thankful they don't.

So they remove something, sell it to someone else or use it elsewhere, and leave open the possiblility of charging more for less.  Sound like a good plan.  The shareholders are happy, the goofball advocates for the poor that are always worried about getting too many calories for the money are happy, the health nuts are happy, the nannies are not any unhappier than before, and the rest of use can still get our egg yolks if we want them.   It's all good.

That might save the average McDonald's breakfast eater 200 calories, so maybe.

Milk is white.
You make cheese from milk.
If you have a cow that is giving you reddish or orange milk, you need to call a vet. It's probably blood in there.
Think about that when you eat orange cheese.

2013-03-14 12:41:46 PM
Taste-free would be an improvement for McDonald's.

Their food tastes like shiat.

Soybeans are green.
You make soy milk from soybeans.
If you have a soy that is whitish, you need to call a vet. It's probably blood in there.
Think about that when you drink white soy milk.

What they won't tell you is that this yolk-free "egg" will come from a carton (just like their scrambled eggs) because they don't trust their cooks enough to let them prepare real eggs that way.

Well, I wouldn't trust them either.

A carton of egg whites is where it's at when I'm making breakfast at home.

i trust an egg a lot more than i trust a carton.  i mean, while the egg stuff is in the egg, it's not going bad anytime soon.  but, in the carton, it starts deteriorating the moment the carton is opened.  which means preservatives are involved.  preservatives are probably worse for you than the egg yolk.  not that it matters.  neither the egg nor the preservatives are very bad for you.

i think it's the flavor injection and high sodium that you get in fast food that's more dangerous.

Yup, plus they wouldn't have a use for the leftover yolk, and McD's hates waste in their food prep processes.  You can bet your last greasy McNugget that they're going to use something like this:

1.bp.blogspot.com

Except that it will come in a 20 gallon drum with an attached pump nozzle used to dole out perfectly portioned amounts.

From what I understand, unless you order eggs fried, every scrambled egg or omelet is made with Egg Sloppy. Commercial egg crapola with sugar and flour and who knows what all.

the color is the most important thing.  White is always superior to anything colored.
