Way to throw your money away, lady.  Things like this will backfire at at the divorce hearings.

2013-03-13 11:55:47 PM
Had a co-worker whose husband insisted on keeping everything in his name, including who was financially responsible for the credit cards. When she left him, she maxed them out with new furniture for her new apartment and somehow she ended up getting to keep it. At least that's what she was telling us. Doesn't quite seem right to me, but she did end up in a really nicely furnished apartment.

2013-03-13 11:56:21 PM
good for her.
i remember seeing an add for a Ferrari, $50.
thought it was a typo and found out later that the woman's husband took off to hawaii with his secretary (as the story goes), and called his wife and asked her to sell his sports car and send him the money.
so she sold it for 50 bucks and sent him the money.

"Don't come too early (like he did)

I guess the relationship has been in trouble for quite some time.

2013-03-13 11:58:45 PM
Isn't shiat like this illegal? Legally half that stuff is his and she has no right to sell it without him agreeing. Some guy on Reddit had his ex smash all his games collection and he ended up settling out of court with her.

Haha I remember that story too! Except it was a Porsche in mine. Ah, urban legends.

What is the psychological reading of this focus on material things?
Is it because that's how she defined the relationship?

The ad discouraged clothes-buyers, "as we will have already burned those in the driveway,"

Giving them to Goodwill was just too much hassle?

I've comforted guy friends and girl friends alike through nasty breakups and divorces. It's never easy.

I've also bought a lot of damn cool stuff at angry soon-to-be-ex sales.

/one of my high school friends sold his soon-to-be-ex-wife's Magic cards to me, for $20, after he caught her cheating.
//I resold them separately and bought my younger brother a car with the proceeds.

My ex and I had a "first annual divorce sale" garage sale when we split up (did pretty well to, for a garage sale)
We had people asking us to let them know when the next one would be(!)

FAKE...just a slick marketing campaign for their moving sale, probably.

It depends on the location. My attorney (a female) told me 'you can't get rid of her stuff, legally, but nothing says you can't store it outside'.

/we ended up working things out and are still married

Absolutely true. I told her I'd bought them and that she could pick 'em up at my house, but she'd stopped playing years ago and said she didn't care and that I should keep them. The family heirlooms of hers that I'd picked up, she came and collected, as I'd been keeping them expressly for her, which is partly why her grandmother's pearls and her mom's wedding dress weren't gone forever.

It was one of those horrible caught-between-two-friends scenarios, where the best one can do is save the one's stuff from the other and try to stay friends with both amid the furor. The Magic cards were just something she no longer cared about and let me have, and it was two years of happy playing before I sold them off. (SO many plague rats she had! It was like NIMH up in every black deck.)

Usually only people find a problem with this when the woman is affected. Not so much when the guy's shiat is thrown out if the window because he cannot fold his laundry of some other menial bullshiat.

Looking through the slide shows in the attached links, it seems like the men and women are doing some of the same things - burning clothes, spray painting cars, selling stuff without permission, but only the men end up with felonies for it. Odd.

funny how many "good reasons" liars and cheaters can come up with for being liars and cheaters.
if you were/are married, i have to assume most of you stood up in front of your family and closest friends and swore or made some solemn oath or pledge to be faithful.
