farkingismybusiness: I admit I know nothing about this show and have never watched it, but I just watched the first video I saw after youtubing it (this video) and it farking sucked. Not funny at all and it seems like bad CW garbage. What other reason is there to watch it besides Kristen Bell being hot?

You aren't going to get it from watching a YouTube video.  Rent/buy/download it and start from Season 1, Show 1.  The writing was excellent, the plots were complex, the acting was uniformly terrific and the characters acted like real people.  Though it has funny parts (in particular Bell's quick wit), it's not a comedy - in fact much of it is rather dark drama.  In the last season, Veronica and her boyfriend have a falling out, and it was played so damn real it transported me back to the worst parts of high school.  Good stuff.  Go in expecting good drama with key emotional payoffs, and you'll be satisfied.  If you're looking for action or comedy, you may not find what you're looking for here.

And it's far more mature and realistic than the typical CW fare.  I imagine that's a big part of why it ultimately failed commercially - it was too smart for that audience.

For those deciding whether or not to watch it, it's a fun mystery show that is not a procedural and is wildly smarter than most shows set in a high school or college.

But...   How quickly do you burn out on worldy-wise kids?  This girl isn't Buffy or Willow smart, she's Author Insert smart.  She's not as instant, rapid-fire about it as Sherlock on Elementary but it's damn close.

It's a good show, and if they ever marathon it on some day when the house needs cleaning or I'm home with the flu I'll probably re-watch it. But I'm not too excited about a movie and other than the fact it'd be nice if they went out on their own terms, I'm okay with how long it lasted.

/first season was the best, if you want to catch something on Netflix

PanicMan: Dear Hollywood: we're serious when we say we'll throw money at these projects. Now do you believe us?

They're not going to believe you as long as nerds clog up message boards talking about torrenting movies and TV shows.
They're only interested in marketing movies to paying customers, i.e. teenage girls and nostalgic middle aged folks. Thus, all the Twilight flicks and remakes.

farkingismybusiness: Thanks. I guess I expected funny moments in "Funny moments from Season 2." I didn't realize the genre. It still looks pretty bad.

It's a noir detective series with some comedic elements, and you probably need the context for the jokes to make sense a lot of the time. It's an amazing show.

Flint Ironstag: tankjr: Went down the list and saw that the investors get... NOTHING. If I'm dropping ten large on a film I'd expect to see some money headed back my way.

Nothing? If they're investors you'd think they'd get their share of the profits, or at least a free DVD.

Welcome to Hollywood Accounting 101. That you for your investment, now get lost.

Having checked the Kickstarter page they do get stuff, including a DVD, at various price points. All the top ones are now gone.
