jaylectricity: rynthetyn: In Florida, "Internet Cafe" is really a euphemism for electronic gambling. rynthetyn: That's why they picked her--so that they could try to pull off the voter suppression stuff, and all the other racist shiat that Rick Scott has done while maintaining a veneer of plausible deniability. She was there to provide cover for the racism.
rynthetyn: Carroll seemed to be a squeaky clean
draa: rynthetyn: Rick Scott's corruption was an acceptable variety to the tea partiers since it was a businessman screwing over the government.I will agree with you on that. But it's funny that there's not a single black Republican politican in the RPOF that has any power right now. Not one. There's a reason for Carroll being #2 and it's not because she was black or a woman. That's not how the Republicans do things. You would have to believe that they would go against their MO for the past 40 years for that to happen, and if there's one thing Republicans are, it's consistent. There's a reason that she was given that position and it had nothing to do with the RPOF trying to look less racist. If that was true, there wouldn't have been the voter suppression we saw the last election don't you think? Voter supperssion that targeted mainly black areas. Or less drug testing for Welfare checks even? Seems to contradict what you're saying doesn't it? Honestly I don't think they care about looking less racist or they wouldn't being doing that shiat right now.
draa: I think it has more to do with the #2 Republican in the State being implicated already since it seems as long as one of them isn't caught redhanded then everything's fine. Now that she's resigned the Republicans in this State are just trying to cover their asses imo. They're all corrupt bastards anyway so that's my guess. It was reported last night on local news that Allied Veterans has donated money to the Republican Party of Florida and there's more political donation shenanigans to come. As was also reported this is just the first round of indictments and more are coming in the next few days/weeks. I have a feeling that the RPOF is neck deep in this scam since the FDLE began investagating this group in 2006 when our Lt Gov was still a member of the State Legislature and one of the top Republicans in office at the time. I also have a feeling that this scam is why she was tapped to be Scott's running mate. Let's not forget, she's black and a woman and Republicans hate both of those groups so there had to be some reason that the Republicans would pick her for the #2 spot in Florida Politics. Most likely it had to do with her access AV's/FOP's money since she was certain to be involved herself as evidenced by her resignation today. I wiould also point out there's a shait ton of scam money still unaccounted for and hopefully it brings the RPOF down as well. At least one can hope anyway.I'd like to add that Jim Greer(past President of the RPOF) and Del Mar Johnson(his Cheif of Staff) were also indicted a few years ago for something very similar. They had set up a shell company that took 1/3 of the donations to the RPOF that they solicited and put it in their pockets for personnal gain. That was with the RPOF's consent as well. He also said that he had enough information to bring them all down and since the RPOF threw him under the bus when he was arrested I'm pretty sure he was doing a lot of talking. I wouldn't be suprised to find out that him(and Johnson) were the ...
rynthetyn: I don't think they would have gone with her if they'd have known she was corrupt as fark,
The Snow Dog: So they really want to shut down illegal gambling establishments--I have no problem with that, but don't call them internet cafes. Sure maybe 95% of the places call themselves internet cafes to appear legitimate, BUT THEY'RE NOT INTERNET CAFES.I used to know a guy who sold quarter bags of weed while he worked at his pizza delivery job. Should we close down all the pizza joints now? STFU.A large percentage of drug deals are done in convenience store parking lots. Quick! SHUT DOWN ALL STORES BUT THE INCONVENIENT ONES!Bust the people that are doing the illegal things and leave the rest of people alone. What a Republican dumbfark.

I remember hearing about one of these 'cafes' showing up in my town and, thinking it was like the korean style Internet/PC Cafes, I went in.. and was told "You can pay a dollar a day for internet access.. or you can spend that credit playing our games.."
