So he thinks they're not promoting his show. Well, I wouldn't notice if they were..

Pouts a limited appeal show with a huge expensive cast.

2013-03-13 11:02:38 AM
I have no idea how 'it's' became 'pouts.'

2013-03-13 11:03:11 AM
The ad hominem against CTN aside, NBC is pretty horrible at promoting any show that's not "The Office" or "The Voice".

2013-03-13 11:24:03 AM
I, for one, was completely unaware that that show was still on the air, so maybe he's onto something.

2013-03-13 11:28:50 AM
The show is good for what it is, and considering NBC has nothing other than the NFL and The Voice to bring back next year, the show should be pretty safe to be back... someone needed to let him know that so he didn't go off on his rant.

I can't tell you, but I have to admit it seems appropriate.

It'll be back.  It's been doing a little better than average for the network and more importantly at 68 aired episodes, it's deep enough in they'll push it to where it can be syndicated even if it loses money in the initial airings.

"There are all these people responding to our show and NBC is completely out of it," Nelson told ET. "They don't promo the show, you don't see anything about it out there."

He's right.  My reaction to the headline was "WTF is Parenthood?"

2013-03-13 12:47:46 PM
Maybe he should "bootstrap" the show into being more watched?

...or i guess he could just keep asking for help from the network.  But wait...accepting help when you need it would make you a taker right?  and lord knows once you're a taker of any kind it's only a matter of time before the wimmun will be squozing out welfare babies by the dozen while the men folk spend their checks on malt liquor and lottery tickets.

Parenthood was a short-lived TV series based on the movie with Ed Begley Jr playing the Steve Martin role. It only ran for 12 episodes. Why Craig T Nelson is still pissed off about it 23 years later is beyond. Must have been a huge fan.

I wonder what we'll say of NBC in several years looking back. They've certainly made a dogged effort trying to be "different" with their primetime sitcom and drama offerings compared to the other major networks, and yet almost all of their shows are not even remotely targeted to your atypical Neilsen family, so the shiat ratings are of no surprise to anyone.

I see what you did there.  My wife and I watched most of the first two seasons of this iteration of Parenthood.  In which time it went from OK to boring night time soap oera that takes itself too seriously. Dax Shepard had the only interesting character in the show, playing the younger brother that never grew up created by Keanu Reeves. Minka Kelly and Sarah Ramos are gone too?  Forget about it.

Food stamp thread under the Entertainment tab.....

We can't keep this to the Politics tab?!

And did anyone help him, yes. Did anyone help him get a job? No. Is he glad that most of the time on the tv someone is writing his lines for him? yes.

I would have believed "Coach" was still on the air before I believed "Parenthood" was still on the air.

/Also, something about Lea Thompson in All The Right Moves.

I'm old enough to remember when CTN was a likable person and actor.

2013-03-13 01:41:35 PM
I watched that show for about one season, I've never seen a more dysfunctional family in my life, these people fight over every damn pathetic little thing on that show. I'm not talking about some minor bickering back and forth, I'm talking top of the lungs screaming, door slamming, grudge match shiat. Judging by the comments people would make about it on Hulu, I guess the fans of the show are just as dysfunctional too. I feel sorry for anyone who thinks that's what family life is supposed to be like.

Silly Craig. Don't you know NBC is a democrat station and your tv show is aimed at republicans? Obviously it always comes down to politics (his subtext whenever he's crying about something).

/Modern Family and Raising Hope kill parenthood in the balls.

monoski: Has anyone ever gotten him to respond to how friggin stupid that sounded?

He's an actor. His job is to say what others have written for him. When he speaks, it becomes obvious why he makes a living on other peoples words.

Just like every other actor.

2013-03-13 03:43:57 PM
Eh, he gets a lifetime pass from me for his work on the Poltergeist series, the first one in particular.

But the bottom line is that actors are stupid. Some are fancy-talking stupid (Ashley Judd), some are pompous ass stupid (Sean Penn), some are ironically non-self-aware stupid (CT Nelson), but they're all dopes.

They don't need them no book-larnin'! They's pretty and can read a script some!

You're a shiatty actor, on a shiatty show, on a shiatty network and you believe stupid shiatty things. Kill yourself.

And they're paying for it. They dropped to FIFTH place during this February's sweeps. Behind UNIVISION.

Lauren Graham was cute back in the day... but she's closer to 50 this year then she is to forty, and it's starting to show.  I noticed it for the first time on this last season of Parenthood... she's starting to develop jowls.  The wall... she's approaching it.

Holy shizzle, he's spot-on. I had no earthly idea this series was on the air let-alone it is in its fourth season. Now, I'll go forget again, and nothing of value will be lost.

How would it be an ad hominem to repeat someones own words (unless taking them out of context maybe) - are you thinking of a non sequitur?

/not even sure that applies, depends on how you look at it

2013-03-13 08:28:45 PM
Judging by his comment, even if NBC did help him out and promoted his show more, he wouldn't notice. He'd just chalk its boost in ratings to his own bootstrappiness. To even know that his current complaints have validity, you have to check with people who watch NBC.

Gonna side with Coach here. NBC has gotten to the point where they're a model for programming. Everything they do, do the opposite.
