ThatGuyFromTheInternet: But even if we assume they're still fixated around white, Christian, right-handed, conservatively-dressed, golf-playing males, that does not preclude all instances of reverse discrimination.

Of course not. Racism against whites DOES happen. But the point is that fixating on it, and portraying it as part of a larger problem when in reality it's a rather isolated, localized problem in certain community scenarios is misleading and laughable, and ignores the fact that racial disparity occurs on a FAR larger level nationally between other minorities going against the status quo than it does whites.

Tricky Chicken: DROxINxTHExWIND: veive: Tricky Chicken: The funny thing is, if a black person were to come on here and make assumptions based on REAL experiences of discrimination you'd both be biatching about a race card. And yet, you're the only ones in the thread who are acting like victims. Funnier, is that your issue isn't that YOU are being discriminated against. You're actually here biatching because in your little world the white racist would be punished before the black racist. Smh.

/You sound like a biatch

Aaaaaannnnd where exactly was I acting like a victim? When did you see me mention a race card? And where did your dumb ass come up with the idea that I'm white? What the fark would you know about any REAL experiences I may have had with racism punk?  Oh wait, you don't know shiat do you?

This policy is about punishing thought not actions. Is ir repugnant (that word means offensive) to think racist thoughts? Absolutely (that means yes). But if the officer never shows that he acts on those thoughts, then leave him be with his conscience.  If a guy is racist and knows it, and also knows that it is wrong, is he a horrible person?  I don't think so. A racist that relishes his racism on the other hand, is the same as a person that hates gay people and is proud of it. They are both pieces of shiate.

But, you know more about me than I do, so tell me what I really think.

/Go back to your cheetos mr ITG

Lol. I didn't mean to offend you when I said you sound like a biatch. I was trying to get you to do some introspection. You asked the question, "Is it impossible for black people to be racist" as a passive-aggressive way to suggest that there is some double standard. It makes you sound like a biatch. Come out and say what you mean. I never said that you were white, nor did I say anything about YOUR experiences with real racism. I said that (based on the inferences in your question) I believe that if a black person were to comment here on their REAL experiences of racism that you would say he was playing the race card. Its ironic that a guy who can't comprehend what he's reading felt the need to insinuate that I cant understand English. Even more telling is that in your limited thinking you believe that "repugnant" is a big word.

As far as your point, people are weeded out in the workplace for their thoughts all of the time. Its kinda the point of an interview. A police officer's first job is communicating with the public. If you hate a segment of the public, and you have a gun, there is the potential that something can go very wrong. I support an reasonable method of getting rid of these kids of people.

Last, if your original point was that this should not be allowed because it punishes thought, I would have said you have a valid argument. But, that's not what you led with. So, why the fark are you talking about it now? I commented on your suggestion that blacks can't be racist. It has fark all to do with your response.

I'm sure the test will be designed to weed out all applicants with any form of racism, such as prejudice against blacks, whites, middle-eastern ethnic groups, and even non-racial religious or regional cultural groups.

// Just kidding. Hatred of Rural Southern White Christian Males will never by targeted in such a test. It's probably required to pass the test, actually.

DROxINxTHExWIND: veive: Tricky Chicken: So, what is going to happen when it turns out that some black candidates are flagged as racist?  Or will they not be tested?

Or is it impossible for a black person to be racist.

The black candidate will sue because the racisim test is racist.
then they will win and the police will stop having to screen for racism because the racism test clearly violates the affirmative action statutes that are designed to root out racism by discriminating against white men in favor of everyone else.
But it isn't racism because it's affirmative action.

And if a white person were speaking of a real situation where they'd be treated poorly due to race, you dismiss the possibility wholesale.

AverageAmericanGuy: Tricky Chicken: On a purely definitional level, yes, anyone who believes that a race is objectively better than another based on genetics is racist. However, in a power structure that favors one race over another (the American society, for example), the ability of a racist unfavored person to exercise his racism over an individual of the favored group is severely limited. Thus, a black racist is impotent compared to a white racist who has the power of government and cultural constructs to back him up.

So, to answer your question, it depends.

But as soon ad a black racist becomes a policeman, he will have the ability to directly exercise his racism over other groups.  He could disproportionately ticked some groups. He could let others off with a warning.

You know, so they can be identified and targeted for being white.

Oh, look. It's the poor white kid who feels like the system is racist to him.

Oh, please, clemkadidlefark, tell us about those days again where white people didn't have to give up their seats to black folk, again?

It's not uncommon for police candidates to have to pass an objective polygraph test during their initial psych entry.

FTFA:Bob Peters, a spokesman for the American Polygraph Association, said asking about factual matters is a better approach than using subjective questions about prejudice or racism. He says a polygraph can't accurately predict whether someone is racist.
