Yes, but did the mercedes guy have a girl in the car, and if so, did she also get her face caught on a fence? That was really my favorite part of the original vid, and I'm having a hard time caring without it.

If it's the one I am thinking of it was a couple rednecks in a pickup harassing a guy and his girl in a sports car.  They follow him down a deserted road then get out with bats  But the city guy has a gun and they run like punks.

It was a poorly done fantasy reenactment of what a tough guy city dude does when confronted.  Don't waste your time.

Harrington told police he feared for his life. He said he followed the Mercedes driven by Krall so that troopers could locate and investigate him.

If you follow the guy, you lose the 'feared for your life' argument.

I like the "I feared for mah life" part..  That was funny.

My uncle did this about 20 years ago.  In his case, he was a passenger in a truck and he racked a shotgun at some guy who cut them off.  His argument was "I was just showing it to him."

My mother cut his arrest report out of the paper and stuck it on the fridge as a cautionary tale.

So the Canadian pulled a gun?  Sounds like the next 3-dollar coin will be depict the incident and be called the Gun Toting Loonie.

2013-03-13 12:31:49 PM
After an investigation, officials said Justin Krall, 39, of Candia, pulled his vehicle beside the white pickup truck driven by Craig Harrigan, 38, of Salem, reached into his glove box, pulled out a pistol and left it on his lap.

Harrington told police he feared for his life. He said he followed the Mercedes driven by Krall so that troopers could locate and investigate him.

These two paragraphs directly conflict.  If someone's brandished a gun at you and you fear for your life, you do not follow their vehicle.

Further, unless he brandished it (and assuming he was legally able to possess a gun) what law did he break by taking it out of the glove box?  Who's to say the Mercedes driver wasn't in fear for HIS life?  If you're concerned about the actions someone else might take, making your weapon more accessible is a prudent step.

Someone (in truth, probably everyone) is lying.  Truck driver was likely being an asshat and
Mercedes driver was probably waving the gun around.

2013-03-13 12:35:16 PM
Two guys I know, Federal Air Marshals, were on their way to the range and had some jackass start playing games on the interstate, cutting them off, and just being an aggressive ass in general. They signaled for him to pull over and he waved a piece at them.  They then showed him their badges.  From what they said, a  black man can indeed turn white in an instant.  He's lucky they let him go and didn't call the State Troopers and get him arrested.

2013-03-13 12:35:54 PM
I thought, by law, Mercedes' drivers get to shoot at one pickup truck a day?

Polearms are the way to frighten drunks. Get a halberd or a glaive-guisarme. Keep a visored bascinet near the door and you're good to go.

I only remove my weapon from the holster for 2 reasons.

1.) to shoot it
2.) to clean it after having completed step 1.)

"showing" someone you have a weapon only serves to escalate a situation many times.  Going to the final stage in the circle of force straight out of the gate is reserved for the minority of cases.

Oh my gawd. Someone saw a gun? CRIME!

Must have felt pretty threatened since he followed the car afterwards.

Next up, illegal to have a firearm in your car. It might scare someone. Ban hunting racks!

Too much alcohol imbibed at the house to leave the pole arms out and about. Also easier to get the rapier (stealthily) out of a self-closing door.

I almost completely agree, but there are times when allowances must be made.

I  carry in my vehicle when traveling.   Just recently, I was sitting stopped at a red light in a long line of vehicles when a bum on the corner for reasons known only to him starts walking towards my truck mumbling something or another.  When it got pretty clear he was coming to my (rolled up) window, I slid mine out of the console and between the seat with the butt up for easy access.

Said bum came up and started knocking on my window asking for money.  Light changed and I drove off, no harm done.  If he'd been intent on something more than very aggressive panhandling, having it holstered and in the console would have been too far and too late.

I've always wondered if you get the same punishment if you just pull out a high capacity magazine and start loading rounds into it, with no gun visible (or in your car, etc, after they pull you over and beat you into unconsciousness)...

We had something similar in my family. My grandfather's father was a dirty old man, basically. Hung out with a lot of scum bags, liked prostitutes, was a little senile and loved guns.

Anyway, the way the story got reported in the local paper, my great-grandfather answers the door and is met by two men who push him into the apartment and demand he give them all his money... He tells them he needs to get his wallet in the bedroom. When he comes out of the bedroom, he's brandishing a .38 snub nose and asks them, "Where do you want this?" and fires 4 shots into the wall, scaring off the would be robbers.

Gun was seized as he had no license, but no charges filed. This was back in the late '70s.

My grandmother hung the story on the fridge, as well.... Mostly for the laughs.

This. Never ceases to amaze me how many people think CCW means you're too cowardly or guilty to wave a gun around at the tiniest provocation.

Then again, they always turn out to believe that they're entitled to have psychic superpowers, such as the ability to know whether some random stranger they've singled out for a beating is armed or not before they attack in a fit of drunken rage.

/Protip: you're not SUPPOSED to know whether someone on the street has a gun before you get up in his biznizz
//you're supposed to treat strangers with as much healthy respect as you would if they were armed, like not trying to punch them in the face just for being ugly
