Charles Fleischer was Carvelli on Welcome Back, Kotter.

Lou Hirsch, the voice of Baby Herman, is apparently Britain's token American guy for TV roles.

The Betty Boop thing was cool.  And Tim Curry would have been awesome as Judge Doom.

I never underrated it.

I may just have to watch that some time soon, it's been well over a decade since I've seen it.

I saw it the other day.  Bill Murray wouldn't have worked as Eddie.  It had to be someone you wouldn't expect comedy from.  Bob Hoskins was the perfect choice.

Eddie: I'm through with taking falls / And bouncing off the walls / Without that gun, I'd have some fun / I'd kick you in the...
Roger: Nose!
SmartAss: Nose? That don't rhyme with "walls."
Eddie: No, but this does.

The concept of starting the bidding low in hopes that it will start people trying to one up each other is alien to you isnt it.

But Chris Lloyd as Doom works because you don't expect comedy?

I'd like to see alternate-reality WFRR with Murray and Curry.

Eddie is supposed to be a hard-bitten sour-puss.  Bill Murray doesn't fit that mold.  Even when he's being serious, he's funny.  It's just who he is.

Wasn't he a hard-bitten sourpuss in Lost in Translation? (Full disclosure: I have no idea what that movie was about. All I remember is Murray looking bored/bordeline-sullen for 2 hours, then kissing ScarJo and then credits.)

I see your point, though. At least with Hoskins, he could be straight man AND jokester without straining on either end. "GET OUTTA THAT CHAIR!" vs "Bouncing off the walls...", and he pulls off both of those lines/scenes with aplomb.

This.
Subby is stupid/trolling.

This movie got TONS of coverage before it was released and was a massive hit.

As for it being 'under-rated': it was hailed as a breakthrough in animation techonology.

So subby seriously go EABoD.

Subby thinks underrated means the same thing as overblown.

Twenty Eighteen things you probably didn't know about Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but then we decided twenty was a nice round number so we mentioned that Tom & Jerry and Popeye weren't in the movie.

Yes, but every role he plays is some variation of Bill Murray.  His deadpan Droopy look is so iconic that even in a serious roll it's hard to take him seriously.  I think for the film noir parody they were going for, Hoskins was a better choice.  As for Christopher Lloyd, he's a good enough actor that he can disappear into any role you give him.  And considering that he was playing an evil toon whose master plan was to destroy the other toons and build a freeway, I don't think he had to worry about being taken too seriously.

Who exactly are these BuzzFeed listicles aimed at? With the giant text and big pictures, it seems like they're target audience has a first grade reading level. Yet seemingly paradoxically, the content largely refers to the past ~3 decades of pop culture.

There's really only one answer I can think of: BuzzFeed is designed for adults with mental disabilities.

I mean "their" target audience.

(Although their target audience likely wouldn't notice.)

Wait, they were originally going to kill off Roger Rabbit?  But they didn't?  Oh what the hell...

I must go back in time and fix this now!

Whaddayamean under-rated, subby?

Judge Doom was supposed to be scary, so what's the problem?

/liked how well Doc Brown played that role and  loved that film

I refuse to click on the link and ruin my memories of that movie.
