Pangea: kiwimoogle84: I'm practically irreplaceable with what I know.

Your entire premise is based upon this statement being untrue. That doesn't give you any sort of cognitive dissonance?

As long as my field exists with the way it runs now, it's true. As soon as everything changes and my job gets dumped as being obsolete, I'll be useless, and so will everything I learned in the last ten years, as well as over ten thousand dollars of schooling gone down the drain.

Thunderpipes: Funny how all liberals here want more taxes, but vote for politicians who want to tax you less, and everyone else more....

Well $45K doesn't exactly put me in a high tax bracket, but I have no problem paying my fair share, and once I get finished with school and into a higher income level, I will have no issues with paying more. However, if I found the cure for the common cold tomorrow and become super wealthy (which would be a shock because I'm not even looking for it), I wouldn't have a problem paying an even higher share. I mean, really, would it be THAT big of a deal for people to take home only $88M instead of $100M? Why is greed good? Do I not benefit from EVERYONE having better schools, better roads, etc.... Is it not enough that I would be well-off, do I have to make sure everyone else has less?

seadoo2006: If living on the government dole is so good, it's a real wonder why smartypants like thunderpipes and Joe Blowme haven't gotten the sense to just quit their jobs and live on welfare.  Shiat man, if welfare gets me a Cadillac and some 24" rims along with cash money and EBTs every month to buy lottery tickets and booze, sign me right the fark up!

....

Or, it could just be that these disingenuous farktards don't actually believe a word of the filth that leaves their silly little minds and they are just cogs in the wheel like the rest of us plebeians angry that they are stuck at home with 4 kids, a house that's underwater because they were too dumb to read the market forecast, an ever declining savings account, and a non-existent 401k and they just want someone weaker and easier to punch every now and then.

I'm fine with that, but at least just admit to it you dweebs.

Dude.....awesome!

If the Republican agenda is genuine, then voting for a Republican can never be done with the intention of increasing taxes on anyone.

That fact is literally impossible to reconcile with your statement.

YES! It's all a game, don't you know?! It's not about being well off or comfortable. It's a giant pissing contest. And you can guess where the piss is ending up.

You are not in an enviable situation, and I know it sucks. I saw the writing on the wall for the way I made my money for over a decade, so I had to teach myself new skills. I would have liked to go back to school, but I'm still paying off my original degree so I couldn't get loans.  I hear you on the insurance woes too. I'm stuck paying $700 a month for crappy coverage.

I still refuse to believe voting Republican is a better option.

I didn't vote republican, if it helps. I didn't like Romney for president either.

I'll figure something out- I always do.

These threads have actually brought me to know that I am indeed more conservative than the Democratic party as a whole, while I will never be willing to vote for current Republicans who I see as bigots.

"Rebranding" conservative Republican partisanship will not persuade me. I think there are a lot of people like me out there. Come on, alternatives!!

Thunderpipes: Government controlled health care will also make doctor supply dry up, worse than it already is. First thing government does, is reduce payments to doctors. Then the incentive for 8 years of school and hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical school is gone. Why do all that, to make 80k a year when you can just be a school teacher?

You are so stupid it hurts to read your posts.  Going to have to gray them out.

Yeah.. and all based on printing more currency based on zilch... when this bubble pops, it will be heard around the world.. and the libs are just as screwed as the rest of us.....

You...aren't too clear on how 'money' works, are you? The universal concept?

/Hint: It's  always 'worthless'. Barter systems do work, but bartering gold for crops is still barter.  Money is symbolic in value. That's  why it works so well.
//There's an actual term for this, but my brain's farting and the way I'm describing it is still accurate.

Really?

It always helps if the Pres actually likes the country.. for those who have removed the blinders, it is obvious that this one does not.. it is also obvious that with the help of his mindless devotees and his purchased slaves, he intends to destroy America, and he,s doing it... we have guns, he owns most of the bullets... yippie kiyay, mutterfuchs.....

Reminds me of a Mark Germino song, "Rosemary's New Constitution" (goes to Grooveshark).

Yeah I'm confused too. Just about every metric I've read or have observed in person indicates the economy has been getting better for awhile. And I live in one of the worst hit areas.

dmax: cwolf20: It's not like he cares now.  He won second term.  He's pulling a Bush.

Letting terrorists attack the Twin Towers?

Watching the banks destroy the American/World economy?

Entering into two unfounded wars that sent our friends and children and fathers into harm's way unnecessarily?

Embarrassing our country with his clumsy, bullying approach to foreign relations?

Oh. Yeah. Total Bush league behavior. The country is clearly worse off than it was 4 years ago. You've convinced me - and the majority of the country. You know, the majority that voted for him. Now the Obama naysayers are just a loud, frightened minority.

Or... and it could just be me.  Bush didn't give a damn since it was his second term. he didn't have to sell people on electing him.  Ooh, that could be it.

Or else I probably would have gone into a rant like you just did.

If you're that indispensable now, don't despair. Even if we develop a public option, private insurance will still be available, just like it is in the UK. You may have to learn a few new tricks, and your industry may lose some people, but someone with your experience will likely still be valuable.

kiwimoogle84: When there's no insurance to bill or to verify, no financial agreements to be made, no coders, no claims examiners, no claims adjusters, no customer service people for patients to call.... That would be a huge blow to the economy. I'd be reduced to returning to school to learn a completely different trade in order to stay alive. Either that or just go on welfare like the government is actively trying to get me to do.

You miss the point.

The health care industry isn't a jobs program.  It's there to deliver preventive care and care to the sick and injured.  Jobs that are unnecessary SHOULD go away.

I want my taxes and out-of-pocket healthcare dollars to pay for physican salaries, nurse salaries, tech and midlevel provider salaries, social worker salaries, (a few) hospital administrator salaries, equipment, hospital and clinic buildings, consumable supplies, drugs, medical devices, research, medical education.  That sort of thing.

Insurance company employees?  Why?  They add no value to anything.  Universally hated by physicians, nurses, and patients ... and for good reason.  Face it, your entire industry exists solely to siphon useful work and resources away from the actual delivery of health care.

I'm sure you're a nice person, and I don't want to see you unemployed.  I'll still be glad if the day comes that your job is gone and you have to find something useful to do with your time.

I don't work for the company anymore- used to. And believe it or not, I got in more trouble when I denied a claim I should have paid than the other way around. Now I work for Sutter Hospital. I'm the person patients go to when their insurance is out of network and they need a letter of agreement with the company so that they don't go broke or bankrupt with their medical care. I'm the person who ENSURES they get treatment. But it's not just the insurance companies either- we're talking the ENTIRETY of the administrative field in hospitals.

By your logic then, the automated pharmacy machines are a good thing too. They're in the works. Prone to less errors than a human, but that now puts the entire pharmacological industry out of business. A good thing, right?

So when this happens, no president going forward can state that job creation is a priority. Because if they share your logic, efficiency is better than ensuring that a mother can feed her children.

I know that a job industry becoming obsolete isn't a good reason to protest an implemented program, and believe me, it's not the only reason I'm against it. The quality of care will suffer greatly, so your logic about your dollars going into your medical care? You can expect the opposite effect. The hospitals will be paid less per patient so the quality will DECREASE, not increase. And further discussion of Canada's wait times for minor surgeries would be kicking a dead horse.
