Not to pass judgement, but here we might have a case of the rare intelligent criminal in the wild. Drive-bys are typically drug related, except where its mistaken address. *I* know that if something happened that was going to draw police to my house, and I was doing anything illegal, I wouldn't do anything to speed it up so that I would have time to cleanup / dispose of evidence. 10 minutes might be all its needed to go from intent to distribute to mere possession after all.

What?  They heard a few gunshots and didn't call the police.

  The article tries to make it sounds like something horrific.  It must be the kind of neighborhood where random gunfire isn't rare.  They were lucky, though, since two of the bullets seem to have hit their home.  Why don't the police try to find who fired into an inhabited dwelling?  Oh, yeah, because that's not what they are paid to do.
