Can't say I'm sorry to see him go.
Now they just have to rebuild that secondary of theirs. I have a feeling their draft is going to be very heavy on the defensive side of the ball. Linebackers and secondary to be precise.
That, and o-line depth.

Nice headline. The Redskins also released DeAngelo Hall. If I had any say in the Bears franchise I'd pick him up. He's Jay Cutler's number 1 receiver.

Seems like a pretty turbulent off season thus far.

Based on the issues the Redskins are still having in regards to the salary cap, I want to say Fark you, Wellington Mara and the giants for ensuring the Redskins and Cowboys both get penalized competitively for not indulging in collusion three years ago.

Also, wish they had money to sign Nnamdi for a one year rental to showcase if he's still got it as a trial for a big free agency payday next season.

Also, since this looks like it'll be today's free agency thread, I have to say that I love what Dorsey is doing in KC so far. No team has signed as many players as the Chiefs have so far, and every signing has been an upgrade. Hell, the one questionable move- Dunta Robinson, who got burned quite a bit last year with Atlanta- is still better than the Routt/Arenas duo we had last year. We've also kept every major player (Winston doesn't count- he was a major weak link last year on the o-line) although Glenn Dorsey is visiting San Francisco. I particularly like Chase Daniel (who we signed as a backup but is better than any starting QB we had last year), Devito, and Anthony Fasano.

Economics. Increase the number of free agents, and they'll undercut each other to catch on with someone. The NFL is just doing what every other employer has been doing for the past 5 years; using the bad economy to roll back employee conditions 30 years.

More WRs in years past, and Wallace just signed for 60m. Percy Harvin might get even more. Jennings is still out there, along with Welker, Amendola, and a few others. Your argument is flawed.

He won't, unless he dominates. He's guaranteed less; there's no chance any contract gets paid completely (unless maybe it's a QB).

No contract is based on what will be paid out. Flacco won't make all 120m from his contract either. All I pointed out is there is still a premium for huge UFA in this market, despite what some might think about the "nfl economy". The contracts aren't getting smaller, the accounting and salary cap manipulation are getting better.

Harvin's contract is for $57M with $15.4M guarunteed.

Saints got W. Smith to take  $6M pay cut and J. Vilma to take a $7M pay cut. Then promptly lost J. Bushrod to Chicago in free agency, who was the guy they were trying to free up money for.

So less than Wallace and Bowe got... sounds about right, although I still think that they overpaid.

The Fitzy cut yesterday was really surprising and amusing, especially given that it came just hours after the leaked Mark Dominik/Buddy Nix call.

Who is going to give $60 million to a migraine-prone malcontent?

Ravens cut Bernard Pollard. Pats should pick him up just for the lulz.

And with that, Day 2 is officially started

Percy will be happy if he gets the ball at least 100% of the time and they win at least ten Superb owls.

So are we keeping ANYONE whose status was in doubt last year (other than Flacco, whose status wasn't really in doubt)? Krueger is in Klueveland now, Ellerbe to Miami, Boldin to SF (and Pollard cut and Ray Lewis retired), and it looks like Ed Reed's gonna get some astronomical 2-year deal to be on-field coach (and go for sole possession of the postseason-INT record).

// only 21 INT away from sole possession of the career INT record...

Seriously gratifying to see this Eagles team go to hell in a handbasket and then get dismantled after the media circus of this dude's signing a couple of summers ago.

Kornchex: Who is going to give $60 million to a migraine-prone malcontent?

No one. And given that the Seahawks have his former OC and WR teammate, it seems like they might know whether his malcontent issues are overblown. Half the malcontent crap comes from the coach questioning whether the migraines are real.

So either a) migraines are real and the malcontent stuff is bullsh*t, or b) the migraines aren't real and we don't have to worry about that. We just have to have a really good coaching staff at keeping people motivated and excited to play. And we have the best in the NFL at that. And, if he does prove to be an injury issue, we can cut him after a year, take the cap hit because our cap number will be much lower next year with Miller's $11 million number going away, and be in a great position to start rewarding our talent while drafting to replace.
