Most of you guys must spend your time pissing in everyones good times. How does anyone stand you when all you do is criticize and crap over every little thing that is entertaining?

So what if its fake or real or anything? Pull the sticks out of your arses and try and enjoy life a little.

/everyone else, high fives.

The kiddos over at Jalopnik already highlighted all the clues that it's fake, from the mislabeling on the windshield to the custom items in the car that wouldn't have been in a car for sale etc etc.

Not a car dealer, not a hidden camera trick. If you enjoyed this I have a Kyrie Irving Pepsi commercial to show you.

farkingismybusiness: Seems more like a Camaro ad. I don't see why Pepsi would advertise like this, but then again I don't watch Nascar.

Pepsi has convinced itself that its advertising strategy should be all about "engagement" and "viral" and "youtube" and facebook likes" and "hashtags" and whatever else the cool kids are doing these days, rather than actually, you know, promoting the name or benefits of the product. It's marketing division is run by people with job titles like "Global President of Youth Engagement", I shiat you not.

The result has been about what you'd expect: Pepsi has leaped from being the #2 cola in America to... #3 behind Coke and Diet Coke.

I dislike Jeff Gordon as much as anyone from Talladega, but that's damn funny right there! It was feeling kind of fake until he started dropping expletives all over the place. Glad they didn't use JJ or I'd have been rooting for a rollover.

Its tres chic to dump on anything NASCAR. Its right there in the hipster coolbook. So pretty much every dillweed on FARK shows up

Who cares about NASCAR?  I'm just sick of advertisers constantly trying to f&cking trick me into watching their shiatty commercials.  Which is what the linked video explicitly is.  The title even says it was created by and for the Pepsi Max product, and they have their Twitter hashtag in the description in a pathetic attempt at making their commercial go viral.

DemoKnite: My first thought was, "can someone who just drives in circles handle a car that well?"  With what appeared to be an automatic, no less.

I used to hate on NASCAR all the time for similar reasons until I saw this segment on Top Gear where Richard Hammond actually drives one (I wish I could find the entire segment because it's worth watching). It takes a lot of skill and guts to drive at 200 MPH when you're inches from other cars on all sides through steeply banked turns in a car that has relatively tiny brakes. I still think it's mind-numbingly boring to watch, but I'm thoroughly impressed by the drivers.

And nobody else on the road.  Totally fake.

I think as long as the dealer is not in on it, then they can set it up as much as they want.  Im not at NASCAR fan by any stretch but I wanted it to be real in some sense.  His reactions seemed genuine, or he is a magnificent actor.  My first thought was, "can someone who just drives in circles handle a car that well?"  With what appeared to be an automatic, no less.

Pepsi would not take the liability risk of that fat car salesman having a cardiac.

Fake or not, still fun to watch. My theory: dealership and employees were in on it, salesman was not, car is owned by Chevy and was already set up to perform stunts and record the audio. The salesman's screams and reaction sold me, and I don't really care if it's bullshiat.

Chagrin: The dealership was probably prepared for this but it doesn't mean the particular salesman had a clue what was going to happen.

The hyper-exaggerated facial expressions he keeps mugging towards the camera mounted on the center of the dash pretty much prove it was fully scripted.

Not saying it's not fake, but the road clear of (non-professional) drivers or the cupholder are basic preparations that a company like Pepsi would prepare for beforehand. The dealership was probably prepared for this but it doesn't mean the particular salesman had a clue what was going to happen.

Gig103: Convincing actor as the car salesman - he has the right level of sleaze and looks pretty freaked out a few times. I know it's faked but maybe some of those reactions are legit?

They probably told him "Jeff is going to drive fast. We're not going to tell you exactly where he's going or what he's going to do when he gets there, so react as naturally as you can."

i dislike jeff gordon almost as much as i did dale earhardt sr but that is a funny ad.

csb, around 1990 i went to test drive a 5.0 mustang lx that had a boss 302 package, since i was only 19 at the time i needed a parent to ride along with me and the salesman. my mom came along. long story short, driving through downtown asheville the salesman says go ahead and get on it some. if you know asheville, around aston park my mom was going nuts. she was scared to death and the salesman loved it. i didn't get that car but in march of 1992 i got a 5.0 GT a month before i turned 21.
