I doubt this is fake. What's next? Are you going to tell me the "Cleveland at least it's not Detroit" video is fake?

Hey, keep the partisanship out of it.  Mocking North Korea is something for both liberals and conservatives to enjoy together. Let's celebrate one of the few things we all can agree on.

Unfortunately, North Korea is not something we can agree on, as Republicans often claim that North Korea represents the liberals' vision for America while secretly admiring North Korea's extreme social conservatism and focus on military might.

Lady Indica: hubiestubert: You know what's sad? The real America would be far more of an indictment. and far less believable to them...

Wouldn't be more of an indictment for a country of starving people, and to show the real America would reveal the lies they've been taught. My understanding is that it's not so much 'we eat snow and pigeons' as it is 'we're an evil race of monsters'.  And they have had to admit that South Korea wasn't doing too badly as they couldn't totally suppress that information. But I think they went the 'they long for racial purity and the one true way' or some shiat instead.

Whole country is a cult and I really really feel sorry for its victims.

For no other reason than to be contrarian,  how do you know anything you've been told about N. Korea is true?

Some years back a NK propaganda team made it a point of mentioning that the South Koreans were in dire straights because gasoline was so expensive.  A North Korean man made it across the DMZ immediately upon hearing this.  His (very good) logic was, "if they are complaining that gas is expensive, it means they can afford cars."

I don't believe the video showed anyone "starving to death" either. But it does happen here, when children, the disabled or the the elderly are abused by their caretakers. I saw my best friend die a few years ago, from lack of basic medial care because he was sick, unemployed and uninsured. I've seen a mentally ill man beaten almost unconscious by police just 10 yards away from me. I've seen far too many homeless veterans hanging out on the streets of our nation's capitol. There are homeless camps in this city FFS. I've driven through industrial hell-holes in the Rust Belt, and seen abject poverty in the Northeast ghettos and in Appalachia. Just a couple weeks ago, the feds busted a large human trafficking ring in this town, where women were brought here from other countries and kept as sex-slaves.

There's a whole 'nother America that most people don't think about.

"They are very good friends. They are together, in adversity"  (and one of them is sitting on a 'dead American in a body bag")

too funny- Some of those pics looks like downtown Cleveland in winter, by the library on Superior- I almost recognize some of the homeless denizens

//gotta go- it's "bird-eating" Tuesday (yummy), and the free "snow-coffee" lines being handed out by our Government (so appreciated) are starting to get pretty long. Plus, I don't want to miss out on the "walls and curtains" the North Korean Red Cross is handing out-

Sorry, it's late and I'm high and perhaps I was too vague. You don't see people starving to death on the streets here...that IS seen in North Korea. I'd rather live in farking Detroit than spend even a week in Best Korea. Don't get me wrong, I *know* this country has problems, serious farking problems. But it still beats the shiat out of living in quite a few places in this world.

Krieghund: Gyrfalcon: Is this propaganda video for real or is it too weird even for the North Korean government?

I'd say almost nothing is too weird for the No. Korean government; but if you're not sure about the translation, here's an idea: Find someone who speaks Korean, and as them to translate. Then you'd know for sure if this is real propaganda, or some South Korean film student's idea of a funny.

Wait...if it's a South Korean film student's idea of a funny, wouldn't it still be in Korean?

Yes, but it might say something different, like: "Here is a fat man eating a sno-cone."

...you let your best friend die like a dog? ...you stood by and watched cops beat a man nearly to death?

There is a bad America, and there is the America where people that want to sound sensitive imagine things that happened in their lives that somehow don't make them bad people for not stepping in.

It's funny, because many Americans just don't care to critically think at all, they just consume whatever is right in front of them.  I remember something about yellowcake and mobile nukes and EMP blasts and hackers, I just forget which boogeyman is responsible for what.

Not in the Bay Area they aren't.

also, apparently they are going to start forcing out all the hobos who live in tents along the guadalupe river trail. I kinda feel bad for the folks, they have no where to go, they have a pretty good setup and are invisible to anyone not on the trail. It's a damn shame.
