Hell, back when I was in school, I probably would've spent that $20,000 on 400,000 pieces of Bazooka Chewing Gum.

Nadie_AZ: A 12-year-old student who stunned officials at a middle school Monday morning when they discovered she had $20,000 cash in her backpack apparently received the money from a neighbor.

"The 12-year-old apparently got the money from another child who lives across the street from her the night before," Taylor Chief of Police Mary Sclabassi said Tuesday.

The neighbors have claimed the money, the chief said. Sclabassi said police continue to investigate the incident, but declined to elaborate as to why.

I don't understand why they did this. I'd have sent her home to take care of it, but I would not have called police or taken it from her.

You'd let a 12 year old kid walk around with 20K? In Detroit?

And I'm sure the police are investigating so they can confiscate it

It is a sad commentary on the country that this was also my first thought.

Because what family-age person keeps 20k cash in a Detroit suburban house?

Tea party Republican/Libertarian nutbags, that's who. They are ALWAYS worth investigating.
