Like a car that can switch to ethanol when it runs out of gasoline, heavy drinkers' brains could tap energy from an alternate fuel source.

So drinking is good for my brain and the environment? Whohoooo!

That would explain why I keep doing things after I go to sleep after a night of drinking.

Most of the heavy drinkers I know don't have much brain left to fuel.

loved the episode about getting drunk and reaction times.

/Cop comes in for a public service shiat. and a sober dr. fever has shiat reaction time. but as a drunk, he is perfect, which leads to the cop getting highly pissed off.

Ahh I love hearing good news about psychoactive chemicals.  First coffee and cannabis are basically good for you and don't cause cancer, now alcohol provides alternative fuel for our brains.

Life is good.

It's a little known fact that the tan became popular in what is known as the Bronze Age.

I learned this at a bar. Where everyone knew your name. It's true.

Last week, I got extremely hamsauced. I woke up the next day upset that I completely forgot about a paper I was supposed to turn in that day. I opened my email to tell my prof that it was going to be late. In the inbox sat an email with the graded paper. Blackout essay-writing FTW.

Yeah I know...irresponsible...but A- worth of irresponsible. And yeah, it's not the hardest class ever. I could probably never pull it off again.

I did that for almost every paper in college, and mostly passed with flying colors. In fact I think my worst grades were on the rare papers that I wrote sober.

Question:
How long before the acetate production kicks in?
Just because your brain can make fuel from it doesn't mean the result is as controlled. Otherwise neurosurgeons and physicists must be drunk off their ass when they're on the job.

Does this recharacterize what a hangover actually is?

If I'm reading TFA correctly, it doesn't add brain power, your brain just shifts to a different mix of chemicals. If your brain is getting bogged down, an extra blast of sugar would work. For a heavy drinker, an extra blast of sugar or a bit of booze works.

Keep those Milk Duds by the desk, is what I'm saying.
