blatz514: Um, won't the dead birds smell something awful after they thaw out?

No, they're dead, so their noses are no longer working.

Satan's Bunny Slippers: At first I read the headline as "blizzard problem" and was confused.  Then I RTFA and came out not much better.

As the article states, "Still, in densely
populated areas where they can thrive,
vultures pose a serious nuisance." We tried
something similar to eliminate the
nuisance of the local crack head
panhandlers where I live. We strung up
signs of where to get a job, in all of their
known habitats. To no avail. Although
some cowered and quaked at the job signs,
and some even invoked the mystical
gesture of the raised middle finger, (no
doubt meant to ward off the "evil eye" of
those job signs), our efforts failed. We still
couldn't walk down tiff street without
getting hit up for spare change or
cigarettes every few feet, and were indeed
spat upon when they were denied their self
ordained right of "give me what you've got"
Some of them cast magical words our way,
usually beginning with the all powerful "F".
Some locals said that perhaps our efforts
were too weak and we should invoke
stronger methods. Such as taking one of
their own and making them work. Again, as
the article states, "They don't like seeing
their own in that unnatural position." But
would that be enough to scare them away?
Probably not. Next step? "It turns out they
don't like the sight of their own dead upside
down."

I wish they would bring this back. If it works for birds it should work for shoplifters, wifebeaters, unfit mothers and eagles fans
