The animal was found creeping across a Brisbane shipping container yard and identified as a giant African snail, an East African pest capable of growing up to 30 cm (12 inches) long and one kg (2.2 lb) in weight.

That explains why it doesn't have fangs and deadly poison; it's just a visitor.

That's ok, Michael Sin.  I didn't need to see a picture of said snail.

That's what I was thinking too, until I read "It also carries parasites that can infect humans with the disease meningitis, which can in some cases be fatal. ".  Then I was just thinking killing it with fire would be good.

Which raises a question...are these type of snail even edible?  If so, they wouldn't be a pest for long.

It's not a bug.  It's a mollusk, more like a clam.  (Lobsters, though, are pretty close to bugs.)
They probably could be delicious with some butter, though.

My sister who lives in Australia swore to me she once saw a Hustman sprinting across her kitchen floor on it's 2 FARKING legs after it got startled!!!
I'm not too fearful of spiders but I would freak out if I ever see a giant spider running in front of me like it's bipedal!

Everything is bigger in Australia, even the snails are the size of baseballs

Strangely, however, Australian baseballs are quite small, and are similar to table tennis balls.

The elephants belonged there. These snails aren't from Austria. This one was an escapee from a shipping container. It's an exotic, and they're hoping there aren't anymore showing up.
