You know , you're right and stuff but seeing the bears help their line and add a legit TE target makes me pretty sad.

I mean, Bushrod wasn't elite but he was good, didn't have to worry about Drew's blind side too much...not a big fan of Charles Brown either.  But we'll see.

Yeah, this one's really good at getting injured, as I recall.

Love to see Ron Rivera or Delhomme make it. Of course, EA would probably fix the vote to avoid it rather than allow themselves to be embarrassed like that.

Can he catch the ball competently? The Bears are in the market for a speed receiver to stretch the field, since they already have a few possession receivers and a Marshall receiver

His hands got a lot better and I think having a competent qb helped his progression last year. Yeah you guys can't stretch the field much, and I can't understand why they didn't try to get a draft pick

He catches the ball about as well as Martellus Bennett. Which is to say "half the time".

I watched every giants game last year and honestly, Bennett was pretty consistent.

I've brought out this example a few times before, but it really has lasted me a while. One night in the middle of a game,  Marty B is running a route in the endzone. Don't recall which one. Doesn't really matter, because Tony drills him in the numbers. Ball bounces right off his chest incomplete. Marty turns to Tony and says, "Throw it up higher." Everyone watching sort of just stared. Seriously? Not that we were surprised the guy who seemed more interested in basketball demanded to receive the ball at the height of his jump, but if you get hit in the chest you'd better grab it. It's not like they brought him in to fill in for Jason Witten if he was hurt - the idea was that the impeccable route-runner and long time veteran would pair well with the athletic young player who could go up and get the ball - even if he was a little "Raw". He just wasn't there, and when he didn't get the ball he was upset.

Combine that with the moments of questionable decision making like his internet show, where he did the "Black Olympics" and had a fried chicken, kool aid, and watermelon eating contest. Or when he tried to throw Tony Romo under the bus saying that Kitna should get a shot at starting because Kitna played while Tony was injured. It wasn't hard to write him off.

The Giants apparently didn't think it was worth keeping him, or else they would have kept him. I have no idea what the Bears offered, but if they think he's going to stay motivated in an offense that throws less to the TE than any other team, they're mistaken.

Who knows, I could be wrong. Maybe he goes there and thrives. But I doubt it.

Can someone explain to me why Justin Blackmon was chosen as the Jaguars' representative? I know he was their most recent first round pick, but he was probably their 3rd best receiver last year (definitely behind Shorts, arguably also behind Mercedes Lewis). And why not Maurice Jones-Drew. You could argue that he could be leaving, but Dez Bryant already left for Cleveland, and he's Dallas' rep. Paul Pozlusny is really good. Their center was a guy who was arguably pro-bowl caliber. Hell, Josh Scobee would make more sense to me as a Madden cover guy than Justin Blackmon.

meanmutton:I just went back and checked -- turns out that it tends to be mid-career players, actually.  The four youngest are Michael Vick (24), Daunte Culpepper (25), Vince Young (25), and Peyton Hillis (26).  The four oldest were Brett Favre (40), Drew Brees (33), Barry Sanders (32), and Shaun Alexander (32).  The other nine players were all between 27 and 30.

That's a horrific list of "young" players. Hillis and Young flamed out almost immediately after. Vick did the dog-killer thing. Arguably, the guy who had the best career out of them is Culpepper. You know, the guy who was cut by the Lions, Raiders and Dolphins.

They've still got him for 2 more years IIRC. They'll have to deal with Sean Lee being a free agent next year, though.

Fair enough. He didn't show his diva (and weird stereotype whatever the fark you call that) side on the field in ny. Although it looks as though the giants are taking a hacksaw to their offense. Bradshaw is cut, tender in Cruz, nicks is seeking offers and now Bennett's gone. Guessing they have to make room for Eli's contract

If you watched many Bears games last year, you'd know that they could have brought Mike Ditka out of retirement to line up at TE, and he would have had a better season than the Bears current TEs. All three combined for something in the neighborhood of 33 catches, 350 yds, and 4 TDs. THREE GUYS combined for that. That is a very bad year for a typical TE. Kellen Davis dropped more balls than a second grade boys school classroom. And if he did manage to catch the ball while wide open, the turf monster would undoubtedly get him and he'd instantly fall down with no defenders within 5 yards of him.

/Kellen Davis is unfit to even be the beer vendor at Bears games
//even if MB half-asses it next season, he'll be miles better than Kellen Davis

As long as you want a guy who can show up half the time and still produce, you'll be fine.

Unfortunately in Dallas he was being compared to Jason Witten, who shows up all the time.

Also, I hope you have enough Captain Crunch, because Marty eats a whole bunch.

Good assessment of KD.  I'll be pissed if he is on the team next year.  I was pissed he was on the team last year.  Worst pro TE I've ever seen.

Frederick: Thanks for the link, Subby.  That was neat. But who ever put together the "Old School" selection is apparently 25 years old.  How does Jim Brown or Walter Payton -two of the most iconic players get left off?

It's Madden 25. As in 25 years. Players who retired before 1988 aren't eligible.

Old school is Sammy Baugh.  4 TD passes and 4 INT's in the SAME GAME.  That's old school.
