Well, then they'd be better served to walk into an auto parts store and buy them to be resold.    Even the dealer doesn't charge more than $1000.

There are trace amounts of platinum, as well as other precious metals. The key word here being 'trace', as in not a lot of these metals. $5000? Nope, not even close. A dealer may charge an excessive amount for these things, but dealers are notoriously over priced on all parts.
Realistically, $250 to $500 depending upon your car. And that is still on the high end of pricing.

This fell apart for me with ransack's "made of platinum." Please try harder next time. "Made with platinum" would have served.

Traces of it. A new catalytic is usually around $500-700. No way is the cost that high as they claim for only 15 of them.

The dealerships webpage says they have 57 new trucks and 4 preowned so I guess they may have been almost new but doesn't it look a tad suspicious bringing 15 new converters in to recycling ?  I am guessing the dealership got them back.  Most new converters on eeba are in the low hundreds with the highest Porsche cats around $2k. I'm still going with cop math ( and meth )

You are confusing palladium for platinum. There are about 3 grams of platinum in a converter.

People are forgetting these wre oversized diesel cats, possibly with uric-injection. They were likely cutting just the actual converter section out of a very pricy model specific stainless steel section of the exhaust. At msrp dealer prices, a front Y pipe on a deisel truck is very expensive. Cop math and all, they are not cheap.

I think in a way he does but  it is mainly about people's perception. Made me laugh anyway.
