spentmiles: Great. Now another animal gets to pace a cage for its entire life, driven mad by its own instincts, "why do I feel like hunting yet there's nothing to hunt?" Would we allow a female prison, sentenced to life, to have a child in her cell, which we then keep in there too? Worse, no one can explain to the tiger the reason it feels the way it does, stymied. The child, growing up, would never grasp why they're in prison too, for their mother's crimes, but at least there's a language we can use to offer sense to the victim. The tiger understands only in urges - to mate, to eat, to sleep, to wander. And we've taken away the meaning of its words from the moment of its birth. No wonder the animals pace and fall into repetitive, maddening movements. No matter how big the cage, it's still a cage. Still a sick joke on a living creative disguised as our best intentions, fueled by the hatred for our sisyphean existence without photographs of God.
