(Celebslam)   Real estate agent leaks that Taylor Swift did actually buy a house near her ex-boyfriend, but then sold it for a million dollar profit. Joke's on you, Taylor. Now everyone knows you're a tremendous businesswoman   (celebslam.celebuzz.com) divider line 79

When I think of celebrities making good real estate investments I think of Tim McGraw.

2013-03-11 04:54:58 PM
She's yet another in a long list of celebrities who are celebrities because they're pretty, not because they're talented. I'd be stunned if she single-handedly wrote any of her songs.

Gosling: Oh, yes, forgot one thing: Taylor also noted that she views the focus on her and her boyfriends as unfair and a little sexist. She pointed out how some of the boyfriends she's had have themselves had a whole bunch of girlfriends- Joe Jonas got singled out- and got off scot-free, labeled 'playboys' and 'playing around'- while she gets labeled 'boy-crazy' and 'obsessed' for doing pretty much the same thing they're doing.

So, if Taylor were ever to show up at Fark, that's pretty much what she'd probably tell the thread.

Maybe so, but I think the response is that the guys don't write song after song about their break-ups. If she'd just date guys and when it ended merely say "We just went our own separate ways, he will always have a special place in my heart, etc." and say no more of it I doubt anybody would say a thing. However, every time she breaks up with a guy there's a new album with songs about the guy. Every breakup with her is tragic and heart rending. Whether she is or not in reality, that tendency just screams "drama queen."

And I'd tell her she's a tramp for breaking Harry's heart.  She was too old for him, anyway.

They... kinda do. Everyone does. That's a huge driving factor in music in general. EVERYBODY sings about love and breakups. Taylor's just get more attention.

I mean... Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye. You know?

Good story about that on 60 minutes

but this is fark, so...

We get it, she's a woman

I don't care what's in between her legs, if she was actually acting in a management capacity there would be no time for boys and song writing.

you do know that if you effective in a management capacity that you aren't doing everything yourself, right?  you know, you have teams and you delegate things especially the small stuff but you make decisions about the major things?  Right??

Do you not believe that the President can have time for so much golf and his family and still be President?  Oh right, he is a male.

Well you're male and you don't manage your idiocy and phony umbrage very well.

ohhh, name calling and personal attacks...that is the best you can do?
woo hoo.  another win.

After insinuating that I'm a sexist this is what you bring. You're not managing your hypocrisy very well either.

I really don't get the hate from the guys about her, who gives a shiat about her music you are not her demographic anyways, I don't listen to it, at least she writes and plays an instrument. She is easy on the eyes, that's all I care about her.

This.  Comparing her to people like Britney Spears or whoever else is retarded and ignorant.  She writes her own lyrics and music, she plays live guitar.  She is self made.

She plays guitar with a capo. Seriously, you have to know like 8 chords (if that) to do that. It's like the influx of late-80's metalheads who played guitar only from tablature and couldn't read a lick of music thinking they were musicians.

Sadly, she's still better than 95% of guitarists I know.  But that doesn't stop them from trash talking her.

And if a half-way decent looking girl. played guitar 1/4th as good as she does busted out a guitar at some house party - they'd all be lining up to hit on her and tell her lame stories about their band and how great they are going to be.

According to Wikipedia, and I feel like I've seen this before, Lindsey Buckingham never had any formal guitar training and doesn't read music to play. And yet most would still consider him one of the greats.

I love listening to music, I love to write, but I doubt I could write a song. Lyrics, maybe. But to compose music that sounded somehow different, and not just cobbled together from stuff I happen to like? I'm not that confident. As for Taylor's songs and skill level, even if she's working with a reduced toolkit, she's still churning out songs that people enjoy. Not every song has to be a masterful display of musicianship to be "good." I'd also doubt that most of her target audience cares much about chord progressions and intervals and her picking style. Even if they did, sometimes a song just calls to you. Sometimes I feel like listening to Dream Theater. Sometimes I'd rather just listen to Nickelback.

Yeah on top of her solo stuff she's played with Michael Jackson and Alice Cooper.

I'm not saying Taylor is the next Jimi Hendrix or anything.  I'm just saying that she has cred over the studio singers that she is being compared with.  Not all pop artists are created equal.  There is a big difference between a hot girl who is given songs on a platter by a team of writers and marketing people, and the girl who actually writes her own music and lyrics.  Say what you want about her skill, at least she is trying.  That isn't to say she doesn't have help, of course she has producers just like anyone else.  But it is her material, and that is respectable as far as I'm concerned.  Whether or not the music is "good" is a matter of opinion.

/it is my opinion that Taylor writes good pop songs
//take that as you will

Another Government Employee: Rapmaster2000: tenpoundsofcheese: considering that she is worth a bazzillion dollars and manages her career, we already knew that she is a brilliant business woman.

That's an interesting thing about Taylor Swift.  Conservative men love her.  Do they love her because she's a square, or are they squares because they love her?

It's a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a crying eagle T-shirt.

Eh, I'm a conservative old fart and I do find her to be both pretty and slightly different from the normal Hollywood skank.  She is kind of refreshing on that point.

As am I. But I'm convinced that she's rapidly developing teh crazy eyes and has more farking problems than a math book.

From what I understand (and my only knowledge about the girl comes from Fark threads) is that is the reason she can't keep a man.  She won't put out until she gets married.

No, the reason she can't keep a man is that she has to convince herself she's in love with dudes she just wants to bone.  Not that there's anything wrong with her wanting to bone the attractive and successful famous dudes she keeps meeting.
