clkeagle: If going to the graduation ceremony is his goal, he should dress the same as his classmates
Typhoid: Interesting that he and his family don't get the concept of a UNIFORM that everyone is expected to wear at graduation.
Weaver95: BillCo: I'm as patriotic as the next guy and probably more so than most of the Fark hippies, but I have to agree with the principal. Let this guy wear his uniform and the next thing you know, some jerk is going to want to wear a clown suit. You aren't a patriot. I'm sorry but you aren't. I know you like to think you are but I've never seen anything from you that would indicate that you understand what it means to be an American citizen. You ape the words and go thru the motions but that's it.
Public Savant: Can they make him wear tutu all through training? Please?
HotWingConspiracy: Attention whore denied prime whoring opportunity, turns to media to satiate whorish needs. Film at 11.
Sybarite: Weaver95: We spend all that time and effort teaching kids to be mindless conformists, then expect them to be fully actualized adults once they graduate high school. We are a very strange society. We do? I thought we mostly expected them to be obedient citizen-workers who don't cause trouble and consume whatever shiny thing gets dangled in front of them.
kayanlau: With that attitude, I don't see this boy making it through training.
BillCo: I'm as patriotic as the next guy and probably more so than most of the Fark hippies, but I have to agree with the principal. Let this guy wear his uniform and the next thing you know, some jerk is going to want to wear a clown suit.
i upped my meds-up yours: The Hudson Patch comments are going both ways, with ex-military folks say shut up and wear the damn gown, and patreeotic mur'cans saying skullfark the feminazi principal.
The WindowLicker: We love to make fun of the Navy, but you will never hear me say bad things about any doc. (even if their solution to everything is to drink more water and change your socks.)
Pockafrusta: HotWingConspiracy: p51d007: I'd tell that b*tch to kiss my a$$ & wear it anyway. No you wouldn't.I would. But i'm into confrontation and escalation when I know I am right. I'd call every local news crew and have them follow me to graduation... The principal would fold.
awshat: I think subby needs to spend about 4 years in the military, and then, he might rethink his use of the "asinine" tag.
milowitz: School has rules and this guy is gonna have to follow a lot of rules when he's in the Core. Better start now.
Weaver95: Rufus Lee King: The ceremony is for everyone in the graduating class; not just for him.I find this attitude extremely puzzling. Why this weird and obsessive urge towards conformity?
SnarfVader: I couldn't get it out of my seabag.
ADHD Librarian: HotWingConspiracy: Attention whore denied prime whoring opportunity, turns to media to satiate whorish needs. Film at 11.As a non-American, this is how it seems to me, but I am always surprised by the special way Americans treat their marines. In this case it seems to me like the principal is still being a moran, if he allows Dress Blues, does that automatically mean he has to allow peekaboo nipple dresses?Mmmm, a problem here. A clash between American military worship and American zero tolerance. Can both sides lose?A question though, given that American schools have no uniform, is there usually a dress code at a graduation (and would a uniform clash with that uniform?)And, why would a principal need to know in advance what you plan to wear?
Weaver95: We spend all that time and effort teaching kids to be mindless conformists, then expect them to be fully actualized adults once they graduate high school. We are a very strange society.
SnarfVader: doglover: Don't you have to graduate high school, or GED at least, before you're allowed into the military? He did. He completed it early and wants to go to the ceremony, which will be held in June.
DrPainMD: Why would he want to do that? The day I got out of the service all my uniforms went into the garbage where they belonged.
