I can see why. NASCAR fans abuse their wives and kids with their fists, not a gun.

Doubtful. NASCAR would never give Jesus a lower rate. If anything, it'd be higher.

So instead of being brought to you by Coors Light the sponsor will be Colt? Big deal. Guns, beer, and NASCAR; the only thing missing from the Redneck Anthology is "attractive cousins". Attractive is a relative term in this context, by the way.

Oh, we're still having a "debate" about guns in this country?  I thought we had moved on to debating whether 0bummer had the right to deny tours of "My House".

As a pretty liberal gun owner, I wish "liberals" would drop the gun thing.  Calling something common sense doesn't make it so.

I just don't see your average NASCAR fan caring about what a Connecticut Democrat says about a race in Texas.

Hey, sounds fine to me. I'd rather the NRA didn't exist, but they do, so who cares about them investing in some fast cars? Cars, after all, kill more people than guns do, right?

I always thought that NASCAR would be improved by guns:

I didn't know sitting in a car and turning left constituted a sport. Look for NASCAR to start sponsoring other national pastimes like darts, bowling and hillbilly hand fishing.

Yeah, but people don't seem to have a problem registering their Dodge Overcompensators. Suggest doing the same thing for a gun, and they get all Turner Diaries.

Soooo....

Where in that green lit article does it mention a Connecticut Senator asking NASCAR to not let the NRA sponsor a race?

The NRA has sponsored an event in a lower NASCAR seriesrecently before, IIRC. Then again, other big political players/groups that lobby have gotten in on it as well, including the UAW and AARP (which currently sponsors Jeff Gordon's car.)

Even though they I've heard they had it planned long before Daytona, I don't think that will stop a lot of people from thinking it's a kneejerk reaction to this:

The whole anti-gun fad is getting a bit out of hand. First kids lives are ruined by pop tart assault weapons with at least one militaristic feature and now NASCAR race cars covered in the blood and death of quad trillions of victims of the gun crimes of the USA! USA! USA!

//some people might think that way

Perhaps the Arizona Cardinals could build a new venue and brand it as NRA Stadium. Or Utah could begin hosting the MAC-10 Bowl. Should go down better in that part of the country than in Connecticut.
