He started in June. He reached Minneapolis in September and took another six months with the current mostly at his back to reach Florida. That's a walking pace.

We'd love to hear eyewitness accounts, the history behind an article. What a dipshiat, I'D SMACK HIM AROUND IF HIS PADDLIN' ARMS WEREN'T SO BIG. I once I out paddled a blue gill while I was in a kayak, but he latched onto my anchor and nearly pulled me under, that attractive and successful lepomis macrochirusism nearly did. I reported myself as a abusive comment, but I was too busy thinking about the time I kayaked from Grand Marais to Munising on Gitche Gumee.

I live in the Keys. We routinely get:

Guy bikes from Seattle to Key West. Guy walks from Maine to Key West. Guy skates from California to Key West. And so on.

Good for them ( I couldn't do it) , but down here hearing about it, routine.

I really hate when I go through all that work and my html mad-skills crap out on me. But, WordsnCollision's pic makes me think of the time I was kayaking in NC at the Outer Banks and a pod of dolphins were swimming along side me.

I wonder if anyone has masturbated in every state in the U. S. A.

Now that would be an admirable accomplishment.

I don't know about that, but Quagmire's Cross C*ntry Tour did a lot of damage.

How do you do that? I've driven it a few times but don't recall seeing pedestrian lanes on the bridges.

Does one really know a man until you've paddled 4,000 miles in his kayak?

i guess i should have made a longer post...

he's actually a friend of a friend. met him at a party, and my then-girlfriend was talking about kayaking, and trying to find some new people to kayak with. apparently kayakers are a bit clique-y. and he piped in that he had a kayak, and she got all excited about maybe finding a new group to paddle with...

when he answered "oh, across the whole country", to her asking where he was planning on kayaking next. we both just kind of sat there and gawked at him. waiting for the punch-line.

he actually meant it.

Damn....I'm impressed. My last trip from Seattle to Key involved a 737 and a rental car.

/Car was a Chrysler Sebring convertible.
//Which screams "tourist".

Dunno, but we do. We also had one guy -- his cause was legal pot, what a surprise -- skateboard backward from Key West to who knows where.

Interesting part, as a T.C. kayaker...the St. Anthony Falls lock and dam in Mpls operates not only for large barges, but single kayakers.  Kayaker pulls up, rings the lock and dam operator via a shore pullcord-intercom, and nine million gallons of water is pumped to allow the kayaker to drop 50' and go through.  Not to mention the multiple other lock and dam locations.  So cool.

I used to travel a lot for work, so I've knocked off a lot of states during my travels, including AK and HI. I'll probably get there if I start traveling again.

I did a GIS and his kayak appears to have zero smarmy decals or logos on it, so he's still OK by me.

KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - A kayaker has arrived in Key West after paddling some 4,000 miles - from one of the northernmost spots in the U.S. to its southernmost city.

Na'alehu and Hilo, Hawaii beg to differ....

I've done that while kayaking a section of the Erie Canal, it was massively fun.

/utlimately prefer to kayak on the lake I live on, though

Big deal.  Want to impress me?   Do the same thing in a kayak made out of paper.

2013-03-11 08:19:06 AM
So. Much. Flatwater....... UGH!!!!!

Can't stand paddling on big rivers and lakes. Give me a wild, carnage filled stream with big drops any day of the week, but for the love of god, don't make me paddle in flat water!

Want to impress me?  Start in Winnipeg and paddle all the way to Belem, where the Amazon flows into the Atlantic.

One of my heroes.
