The adversity to circuses is typical of the 'take your activism home' mind-set. Potable water is scarce in a large part of the world (also where there are a lot of poor people), so what do you do when you can't do anything and you live in north west Europe (where it rains *all* the friggin time)? You take your activism home and you stipulate that people should put a brick in the flush basin of their toilets. Water in this part of the world will never run out, but whatever, you've done something and you feel good now. Circus animals are the same: they are well cared for but the animal species in question are endangered in their wild habitats and generally people should stay away from them there, but you're not there and you want to do something, so what do you do? You ban circuses. You did something, however futile, and you can feel good now.

Guairdean: How can Hollywood ban circuses? The only circus bigger than Hollywood is Congress.

Jesus, what are you, one of Gallagher's writers?

Wish they'd ban them in So Cal.

Nothing I hate more than seeing Circus Vargas unload their sad elephants in the parking lot of the local malls.
