Compared to where she was a couple of years ago Britney buying a painting that she likes, that happens to be vaguely artistic, is  a huge improvement. Maybe one day she could actually go to Paris and have a look around?

2013-03-10 02:55:11 PM
Maybe it's not a great work of art, but it's from a sidewalk vendor so that's to be expected. Many have minimal talent at best. It really only matters that Britney likes it and that she is supporting local artists.

This is actually a good thing. Usually on a slow news day the Daily Mail simply makes something up. Here they're reporting on an inane, non-news event but at least the event in question appears to have actually happened.

I bet the author of the article likes to go to modern art galleries and talk about the artist's feelings.

/Not a great painting, but pleasant to look at and on the middle to high end of street market art.

I loved that she bought from a street artist.  Who cares if someone doesn't like it; it's not going to be in their damn house.

Britney Spears? I thought they retired her in favor of the new models.

Shouldn't she just go to the pop princess retirement home with the Spice Girls and Tiffany?

The subject matter is the part that would draw me.  I do like a nice corner bistro in a pleasant part of the city with outdoor seating.  Maybe she had a really good lunch at one of those places and the painting reminded her of it.  Who knows.

Art is in the eye of the beholder.  If it does something for you, fark what anyone else thinks, you're allowed to like it.

/Also it's still infinity times better than what I can do

Although I am loathe to sell my artwork I will sell an original to Brittany if it means we can troll a Daily Mail writer into writing an enraged critic on the artistic merits of tentacle rape.

No unless she's changed in the last few years.  Her divorce proceedings documented a huge income, but nearly zero savings, and if you have no savings, then you really don't have any wealth or riches.  When the income stream dries up, you're on the street.

Frankly, the most insightful thing I got from this article was from the picture of her son with the slurpee cup from... Target!  Britney Spears shops at Target!

Take that, Wal-Mart!

I'll bet she's just trying to keep it cool.
Why people slamming the art piece? Just because she likes it? Maybe it would look perfect in a certain spot in the house. Why is this news?

Most of the paintings sold on SoCal's sidewalks are made in China or Korea, not by local artists.

This. I'm a sidewalk painting vendor (Venice CA), and my paintings suck. But they are loud, vivid, and feature naked women, so people buy them anyway.
You probably would, too.

I haven't been to VB in years. Are those spraypaint artists still there? It was amazing what they did with spraypaint and glossy print ads, albeit repetitive.

People crack me up when they put down Kinkade.

Dude painted some amazing pictures, add in how he understood the medium enough to paint his paintings such that you can almost change to composition of the picture by altering the external light...his paintings really are beautiful.

That being said, don't let me slow down your hipster circle jerk. Yes we know, you liked everything first, and things that other like, you now don't like...so hip and cool of you....I hear Felix asking for another gluten free, locally sourced snack...you better go.
