White trash + artistic ability = white trash with art.

I had to GIS "Art Car"

Man, when I see a car all decked out in crazyness, "artistic genius" is the last thing that comes to mind. It seems like it'd be someone who's an angry soul and probably likes to argue. And probably not insured.

HOAs are actually pretty rare in Massachusetts unless you live in a condo.  We don't really need 'em, as every square inch of land is part of some incorporated municipality and land use is governed by municipal zoning codes and health codes and such.

Nice thing about having town governments to do that stuff is that governments, unlike HOAs, are subject to sunshine and open-government laws and stuff.  So they've got that goin' for 'em.

I wonder how much of that is him and how much is the article's author.

How many lawn mowers do you think you have out there?

I collect about anything I think I can get rid of gradually. I ain't fussy about what I collect, if it's decent.

Are there things you look for when you collect?

Why should the government get involved in my life? I don't need them telling me what I can and cannot do on my property. HOAs are just the free market making sure that other people don't cause the value of my home to depreciate.

I love my HOA, in a gated community, with no purple houses and zero cars on well-maintained lawns, so keep off mine.  Certainly, our CCRs ain't for everyone but if you don't like 'em, live elsewhere and we'll both be happy.

I can almost empathize with the desire to turn junk into, "art." Almost. I'd never make my house ugly, so I get it out of my system another way. This is what I do with my household junk when a junk drawer gets too cluttered. I make it into junkbots and then throw the rest away, as I'm pretty OCD about keeping a clean and clutter-free house. I would never display my junkbots outside of my house, though, as they fill me with shame. Here, Fark, share my shame:

Wonder how many smartasses sneering at him are in debt so deep they will never get out, or would rip somebody off instead of helping them.

For those that don't know where Brookfield is, it's near the center of the state.  If there was such a thing as a flyover part of a state, western Worcester County is it.  It's pretty damned far off the beaten path.

\interesting fact, while wandering that area once I found a TARDIS in someone's driveway. Just...hanging out there.

Amen to that. Not enough people get to live life in their own fashion. The artistic / freedom loving mindset of the beatniks & hippies of the 1960's died off all too soon. And without a wife to constantly tell him all his stuff is junk (as wives too often are wont to do) this fellow can express himself, keep busy and feel like he has purpose. I admire him. I wish I had his freedom.

Yeah, NO THANKS! In my early 20s, I rented a room from a family who should've been on that show, but this was 15 years before the show existed and nobody understood my plight. Ugh.
