Jeb is as dangerous as his brother George. Keep out of any future political office, IMHO.

The best of his brothers and Mr Romney.

The best of George HW Bush wouldn't be that bad. The man DID raise taxes because it was better for the country. That would be a welcome change.

/Besides the whole "I ran the CIA when it was at its most corrupt point in American history" thing

Oh, dammit. I misread that. HW was the father.

Looks like Jeb is steering hard righty tea bagger to start laying the groundwork to pick up primary votes. Sort of like Romney tried to.

And it probably fails, because he immediately loses the smart people who thought hey maybe this Republican is different.

We're not British and presidents aren't royalty.  A father's best characteristics don't pass to his sons; they pass to his daughters.  Breed with a stupid woman and you will have stupid sons.  Or, like the Hiltons, stupid daughters.

Jeb Bush: 'History will be kind to my brother'

It probably will.  When you  have soulless morons attempting to re-write history every single day, it just might happen.  For God's sake, we have people in the GOP who think Joe McCarthy saved America, Lincoln was a maniacal tyrant, the pilgrims fled European socialism, Saddam Hussein was developing a nuclear weapon, etc. etc. etc.

It's like a challenge to see who can get to the bottom of the IQ chart first.

FTFJeb: "In his four years as president a lot of amazing accomplishments took place."

Yes. Unfortunately, in the other four years as president, we had 3000 people die in a terrorist attack, started an unprovoked war of choice, a complete failure of disaster relief after a hurricane, and the Dow Jones started a fall that took it six years to recover from.

There's a good reason why you never hear about the other two Bush brothers, Neil and Marvin.

They make Dubya and Jeb look like saints.

Um. He did 8 years. Or were 4 of those years so abysmal that it's better if we just forget all about them?

To be fair to Jeb, I think the "four years" comment was referring to his father.  When GHWB left office after one term, he was pretty widely disliked.  Now, in light of the disaster that was GWB's two terms, GHWB doesn't look quite so bad by comparison.  So Jeb is just assuming that W will also look less bad in the future, as memories fade.

What this actually implies is that the next Republican president is going to be so incredibly horrible and fark up the country and the world so bad that he makes even GWB seem reasonable, but I doubt Jeb meant it that way.

FTFA: "In his four years as president a lot of amazing accomplishments took place," said Jeb Bush, the son of former President George H.W. Bush, during an interview on NBC's Meet the Press.  "So my guess is that history will be kind to my brother, the further out you get from this and the more people compare his tenure to what's going on now."

Wait, is he talking about history being kind to his brother or his dad?  He mentions your years as President and then immediately conjures up W.  WTF?  These assholes treat the English language like that cut up prostitute from Unforgiven.

That quote from Jeb *was* preceded by this intro:

"Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says that the public will view his older brother, former president George W. Bush, more favorably as time passes."

It is entirely possible that this article is a compositional clusterfark.  I dunno.

Bush jr(plus Cheney) still has a worldwide warrant for his arrest, on charges of crimes against humanity.

/Add in a ten million dollar reward and the rednecks will be all over his ass.
//so in the end, less rednecks and Bush jr gets his trial and punishment.

Lionel Mandrake: I though he was supposed to be smart.

That's what we'll keep hearing from the supposed liberal media in 2015-16, that Jeb's the "smart one" who could give "Hillary (or whoever) a really tough run."

That's right, get ready for "It's a horse race/too close to call/unskewed polls!" part II in 2016.

2013-03-10 02:02:13 PM
That is all well and good but who is going to be Jeb's VP/Puppetmaster/Cheney

2013-03-10 02:02:14 PM
No more Bushes, no more Clintons, that's the deal.

2013-03-10 02:02:56 PM
Of course it will, the trend of text books in use in the country is largely controlled by the Texas educational system.

2013-03-10 02:07:09 PM
Well, I don't know if he is actually as dangerous and delusional as W. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he were, but I don't think "history will be kind to my brother" is really evidence either way. This is just the political equivalent of what most people would say in response to "Honey, does this make my ass look fat?"

And all that pales in comparison to the overwhelming whitewash of Ronald Farking Reagan.  From committing two or more acts of treason to second coming of jesus himself in 12 years.

Jimmy Carter will be remembered for building houses for the poor.  Clinton for rescuing journalists.  And W for painting dogs.

Which is sad, really. Hoover was a pretty bright guy and dedicated public servant. He did not cause the Great Depression and the New Deal was FDR's extension of his work on recovery.

Compare and contrast W, who - even according this his own memoirs - was a complete tool used to insert the rightly unelectable Cheney, Perle and Rumsfeld into the Executive Branch.

The entire Bush family wants to destroy America.  Both Bush presidency's ended in the destruction of the economy, with GW doing a far better job of destruction than his father.

Besides the war on terror gunk, what does Bush have for his legacy to hold up in history?

No Child Left Behind, Bush Tax Cuts, oh and German shoulder rub loving...  Anything else noteworthy that'll transform over history and make AP US History students reflect in awe at his legacy? (Once again, all the war on terror stuff I'm brushing over but that stuff's rather obvious)
