The war of 1812 was between the British and colonial Americans, despite whatever Canadian revisionist history claims.  "Canada" hasn't won a single war in the history of the country.

/that should get it started

Seriously, however little some people around here might care, if we lose this, we WILL be hearing about coming in last in a pool containing Italy for the next four years.

Im surprised it isn't being marketed all that heavily.  it seems that there's way more buzz locally for the various spring training games.

i was takling with a friend about going, but ultimately we were both like, "....ehhhh.......i dunno.....nahhh.....screw it."

they only drew 19,000 last night (house holds about 47,000) so i'm curious what the gate will be for today.

That's just one of the vagaries of neutral-site games. You're pretty much at the mercy of whoever decided to travel from their home turf.

It's because we're all drunk, have frightening dui laws, the public transportation still isn't that great, and the area is so large cabs are unfeasible.

But to answer the question, baseline and rural.

Derek Holland is pitching.

Derek Holland has no business being in national colors. I mean, honestly? Derek Holland? He who had an ERA of 4.67 and gave up 32 gopher balls last season? THAT'S the guy we're turning to?

By the way, heading into the 8th, Venezuela leads Spain 8-5 in a loser-defends-their-spot-in-2017-qualifiers-with-Brazil-and-Australia match.

Already burned down Toronto (then known as York) during the War of 1812. We were doing Canada a favor by doing that

That's because they're only selling lower and middle level tickets for the WBC. No upper deck seats for sale.

Me to dad: 'Hey, US/Canada's about to start.'
Dad: 'Oh, okay.' (switches from American Pickers)
(watches small snippet of opening vignette)
Dad: (switches back to American Pickers)
Me: 'Boy, you didn't even wait for me to leave the room.'
Dad: 'Ah, they're still on the hype part.'

My dad will probably have American Pickers on for the next hour while waiting for 'the hype part' to end.

We already kicked Canada's ass at the World Juniors this year, which is far more of a national humiliation to them than whatever the result of this baseball game may be.

I guarantee you it'll be more of a humiliation to us to have to prove we're a better baseball country than the likes of Nicaragua, Thailand and the Czech Republic and risking the answer being 'no'. Which we'll be forced to do if we lose.

I could be wrong but I don't think either team is in danger of falling to qualifiers. The criteria isn't "last in the pool" but rather "hasn't won a game".

I imagine the rules to qualify will depend on what it takes to ensure the US qualifies.
