Losing that one measly hour when the clock lurches forward from 2 to 3 a.m. every March knocks so many people off their natural rhythms that some have gotten into the shower with their underpants on, put soap in the baby's bottle or tossed their paychecks in the trash, according to a new poll.

*checks the trash can*

nope.  not there

Can I blame daylight savings time for the dead hooker in the trunk of my car?

Doesn't affect me much.

I expect the derp to hit areas like Washington, DC exceptionally hard.

Like Florida really needs any excuses to go full derp at any time.

Johnnie Cochran used the Daylight Saving Time defense in the O.J. Simpson case, and look how well THAT worked out!

How to spot a retard....talking about dst affecting them for more than 2minutes

I really think people are embellishing a bit. Daylight savings gives them something to blame their lunacy on.

Altitude5280: Doesn't affect me much.

It doesn't affect hardly anyone much, this is a bunch of whining and hand-wringing over nothing. The only people affected would be those who work Sundays, most notably the ones who work doubles and swing shifts, especially if they worked last night and work again today, like my brother in law.

The rest of the people are just jumping on the bandwagon. If they go to bed at 8, 9, 10, 11pm tonight, and get up at their normal time tomorrow, they will still be getting THE EXACT SAME amount of sleep before work.

Yeah, I understand that sleep is important, and I understand that some people aren't morning people, not matter what(I'm one of those), but an hour in the middle of the weekend is nowhere near as tragic as these farking drama queens try to paint it as. It's just people who want to biatch about something, no matter what the topic.

Hell, people lose an hour every week deciding to stay up for Jimmy Kimmel, or keep reading that one last chapter, even boinking their wives, but we don't see news stories about that. It's not cool to actually blame yourself, it turns out.

Damn terrifying prospect, subby. You will speak of it no more.

Anyone who whines about DST has never had to adjust their body clocks for international travel. Try shifting your circadian rhythms by 5 hours or 8 hours or 13, then we'll talk.

Those of us on the road know, it's all just one big farking day! - Janis

the only time i've ever been early for work.  except for all those daylight savings days.  Lousy farmers.

The only issue I have ever had with DST is forgetting to set the clock ahead and being 1 hour late for work.

I myself put my underpants on backwards this morning. Curse you Daylight Savings Time!

Question: are we now in Daylight Savings Time or Standard Time? In other words, if there were no DST, what time would it be right now (2pm by my computer clock).

It's colder today than it was yesterday. Do I blame DST or Global warming?

Likewise. I don't get the outrage. I usually get about 8 hours sleep, give or take, going to bed around midnight and getting up at 8ish. Last night I went to bed at 12:30 (having already set the clocks ahead an hour) and got up a little after 9. I can understand people that had to work or be somewhere this morning being a little peeved, but Jesus...if you can't get over it in a day or 2 you're pathetic.

IOW....DST? MEH.

The Sun came up in Florida this morning, Subby when it got good and ready.  And most of us Floridiots lived through it, despite ourselves.

1) It is daylight-saving time, not "savings".

2) We are now in Daylight Time, or "war time" for you old folk.

3) Standard Time is no longer the standard, as it now only lasts something like 4ish months.

Christ, have these people never travelled to a different time zone? I have spent time in 9 different time zones at one time or another, and never wandered out into the road in my underwear or filled a baby bottle with soap.

I'd kickstart that. Crazy shiat happens everywhere, I don't know why people act like Florida is some kind of special case.

I'll biatch because I work service industry hours on the weekends and friggin' SXSW is making this town pretty pants-on-head derpy already. Driving to work was a new level of shiatstorm this morning.

Arizona may need its own tag, but at least it doesn't observe DST.
I wouldn't be surprised though if DST was seen as liberal blasphemy against Yahweh's plan.

Well, if people want the sun rising at 4 am, lets just drop the darn practice. Otherwise, this is just an excuse. PLenty of younger people manage to go out all night after working all day and then going into work the next day, and they seem able to handle that just fine, so I fail to see how shifting the clocks one hour is such a problem.

2013-03-10 06:50:12 PM
According to what I heard, AZ would not observe DST because their assembly worried about that extra hour damaging their crops.

/well, thats what I read in a book once... somewhere...
