Interesting how we once named vessels after their charge, their characteristics, or their hoped for characteristics. Or at least after some person we hoped the vessels would emulate e.g., Resolute, Victory, Linda Ann.

I guess rich farks now like to name their boats after their own personality flaws as they endlessly and mindlessly consume more and more resources.

When they "declined assistance from the Coast Guard and other boaters " Darwin took command of the situation.
Instead of a couple of hundred dollar towing bill that the owner of the boat might have had to pay, the taxpayers are going to be stuck with the cost.
And that will be a large bill with CG boats, helicopter time and clean up.
Rough costs for one boat and one helicopter are, the small USCG HH-65 helicopters, around $5000 dollars per hour. A Coast Guard 41 foot boat, around $1500 dollars per hour.
Wonder what the manpower and cleanup will run.
Stupidity costs everyone.

Yeah, screw the dead guy, what's important is how much money they wasted.

This is the first Fark headline in ~10 years that I can decide if I don't get the joke, or if there isn't one.

You just haven't accepted the truth of de-evolution, yet. Sooner or later, you'll realize that we're all Devo.

On a side note, saw them concert in September. And for a bunch of 60+ year old guy's, they're still doing the jumping and spaz dancing. Impressive

Also, +1 for Subby. May he get some satisfaction today

I think we should privatize the rescue industry for wealthy pleasure boaters.  The free market could do the job better.  Make them take out insurance with rescue companies on their own.
