I used to have a picture of the scene with Philo eating popcorn. Sadly, I've lost it in the intervening years. Otherwise, I'd post it here.

But is there a sad, depressing story about a pathetic coyote, who spends every waking moment of his life in the futile pursuit of a sadistic roadrunner. Who mocks and laughs at him as he's REPEATED CRUSHED AND MAIMED?

I watched UHF with my wife earlier this year since she'd never seen it.

She wondered how come it wasn't a classic. I explained to her how 1989 was a stellar year for movies and it got crowded out.

Truly a movie that was overlooked by far too many.

"Take that ridiculous thing off!"

Ugh, Sno Ball's.  Coconut is disgusting.  It's not the flavour, it's the texture.

I guess their version is *slightly* different, but definitely inspired by Al's version (which he actually eats occasionally in real life)

Al's version uses Easy Cheese, not ketchup, and he dunks it in milk before eating.

/also he uses Tofu dogs now, as he's been a vegetarian for about 20 years.

It was also released either the week before or the same week as Indiana Jones 3 and got run out of theaters pretty quickly after to make way for more crap blockbusters.

Roadhouse, UHF, Dead Poets Society, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade, all of which I saw dozens of times thanks to working in a theater that year.

http://boxofficemojo.com/yearly/chart/?page=2&view=releasedate&view2 =d omestic&yr=1989&sort=open&p=.htm

The year was pretty solid for films. The Abyss and Parenthood came right after along with Friday the 13th 8 and Nightmare on Elm Street 5. Before that it was When Harry Met Sally, License to Kill, Weekend at Bernies, Batman, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and Ghostbusters 2.

Movies released earlier that year that continued through the Summer included Roadhouse, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Dead Poets Society, and Star Trek 5.

There just wasn't any room at the show for cult films.

Nope, not even worth a mention.  Kind of surprised that that's what get's Battle Creek on Fark and not some murder/suicide or crazy, pregnant, bath salt, face eating zombie instead.

Also, I doubt these people bothered to secure licensing rights to the trademarked and copyrighted material associated with the Twinkie name.  Lawsuits ahoy!
