There are over 90,000 elementary schools in the United States. Getting outraged by the one off cases of stupidity is pointless. Since this case represents such a small minority of public school teachers, it's unfair to paint all of them with such a wide brush.

Or people who can't tell the goddamn difference between a kid bringing a gun to school, and a kid bringing molded plastic army men figures with little 1/4" guns in their hands to school.

Seriously you goddamn f*ckwits.  WTF?

Either you're trolling or you're ignoring the fact that one of these kinds of stories pops up damned near daily.

Plastic army guys, pointing and saying "bang", suspended for allegedly biting a pop tart into the shape of a gun and then offering counselling for those students who were "distressed".  And that's just March 2013.

Both my parents were teachers as is my brother and his wife.  I have great respect for the idea of public education.  But Dad retired, in large part, because he couldn't deal with this kind of BS administrative decisions.

7th Son of a 7th Son: Ya know if this nonsensical shiat was around when I was in elementary school (82-87) the entire school would've been expelled. No one gave a shiat if we played Smear the Queer. Nowadays the kids would be forced into sensitivity training. I'm really glad I went to school when I did.

There is a difference between hating violence and fearing violence. Inane bullshiat like this shows the latter.

I'd hate to be working in a school these days.  This is stupid, but not any more stupid than the repercussions the school might encounter if the goofy parents of today who might have a problem with gun violence being depicted on cupcakes sued the school.  These school workers are trying to appease everyone's sensibilities which are everything to the dumb parents.  Meanwhile, the kids just see the toys as little army guys.  It's the adults that are all farked up.

As a veteran, I am offended by the hostility of the principal toward the military. She should be removed from office, fired and never allowed to work in the public school systems.

That is how this works, right? Anything less is a double standard that makes the principal's stand completely asinine.

CSB: Last weekend about thirty 4th-graders and their dads played paintball at a nearby course when we consumed some 30,000 rounds over the four hours shooting each other at 200fps playing capture-the-flag.  Sure, some boys cried, others fell, but on the bus ride home everyone laughed and proudly sported war bruises.  A week later I still smile about how my son and his comrades ambushed me.

Thank gawd for private school.

30K rounds?  That's what - 500 rounds per person?

Paintball is so different from when I played in the early nineties.  Granted, it was in its infancy, but we'd play for 6-8 hours and maybe go through 150-200 rounds per person.  Man, I miss those Nel-Spots, and my Tippman SL-68 even more.  Good times.

Nearly one thousand, but many spilled because the newbie boys mishandled the guns and they'd spill out of the holders and canisters.  We had about 5,000 left over which we just gave back.

Bought some 2 weeks ago at the Commissary on Fort Wainwright, in Alaska.  And right around Christmas time, I got some at the dollar store near Lancaster, PA.  They may be banned, but plenty of places legitimately sell them.

No kidding.  You were playing when I was, and most of us had pump action guns.  When you rented a semi-auto, everyone's eyes got big, and they didn't want you on the other team.
