People still get pictures developed?

2013-03-09 12:19:34 PM
Either way, if grown people are so naive/stupid to have personal family pictures developed by total strangers, they deserve anything they have coming to them.

2013-03-09 12:28:37 PM
But why would they do this? Why would they bring their film to Walmart?

For those of you not born in the pre-perv era, taking nude photographs of your infants was a time honored and cherished tradition.

I guess you see these old jokes and spots on TV where the girl friend of some guy meeting her folks gets mortified when Mom suggests bringing out the family photo album and don't understand.

Nearly every family years ago had some nude pictures of their children when they were real small. Now, under today's morals, they'd all be pervs, meaning you'd have to put probably 90,000,000 on the sex offender list.

If you're a parent, you tend to see your nude infant as a thing of beauty, innocence and precious. Many wanted to capture those moments because the child grows up so fast.

No. You didn't go flashing such pictures around to the general public. Yes, businesses did use cute images of nude infants as product endorsements.

No one considered it porn.

BTW, your folks probably have Polaroid pictures of you when you were a nude mass of gurgling, pooping, shove-anything-in-your-mouth, giggling innocence.

Now, you're a hairy, obnoxious adult. You folks will fondly look back on those pictures and recall when you were a less mouthy bundle of joy.

It does NOT mean they're pervs.

It means they loved and adored you and were proud of what they made together. They wanted memories of those moments to look back on in their old age.

And not just pictures of diapered you smearing oatmeal all over your face, sticking your finger in the dogs arse or drooling creamed peas down your chin.

Everyone today is so terrified of potential sexual offenses, blown far out of proportion by the media, that they loose all common sense.

Besides, I hate to burst your bubble, but the amount of real pervs who get turned on by infants is very, very low. Actual pervs don't react until the kid starts looking more or less like a small person.

Infants tend to be basically blobby characterizations and asexual.

You might be shocked to know that parents bathing NAKED with their children under 3 years old was accepted. (Oh, the horror!) No sex involved. It was usually done because the kids liked it and were all giggly and fun and parents were bonding.

Geez! People gotta get a grip.

You can tell when the whippersnappers are posting. Let me just clue you in:

There a a lot of grandparents and great grandparents out there who would be on the list in short order given this standard. I know it's hard to believe but people used to take pictures of their kids running around naked and being goofy little kids and didn't give it a second thought.

I know it's even harder to believe but there was time when people who saw such pictures didn't immediately imagine someone having sex with them.

But the damage had been done: The couple's named went on a central registry of sex offenders

After being found not guilty? WTF is wrong with our country?

2013-03-09 01:28:54 PM
Let me get this straight; you can send video of your naked kid in the bath burping bubbles to America's Funniest Home Videos to be broadcast nationwide and maybe win money or you can take film of your naked kid to Wal-fart to be developed by some pimple faced teenager and maybe win jail time.

What a country!

My parents have a polaroid from the early 70's of me pissing on my younger brother's head.  I was three, he was about 8 months, and I was demonstrating the usual childhood jealousy about a new kid in the family.  Family thinks it's hilarious.

They probably get executed for it these days.

Falling from a ladder and suing? NO
Hit in the face with a dart? NO
eating ice cream and finding GLASS? YES

farking common sense went out the window the first time that biatch got money for pain and suffering.

I'm very curious about this as well.  Something seems fishy (or there's some bad reporting going on).

I don't know the sex offender registry laws of each state (or is it a federal thing?)... but I get notices in the mail quite often.  Every single one lists an actual crime they were convicted of.

I get where you're going, but there's some pretty strict standards when it comes to credit.  It can only take into account 7 (I think?) years.  Bankrupcies I think stick around for 10?

You can easily get yourself out of bad credit.  It does take some time.  And requires a good period of time without real, serious bad luck.

I learned this lesson the hard way too about a decade ago and I felt dumb that the obvious had never occurred to me either, that a stranger was looking at the photos. Thankfully, it was a picture of myself, naked from the waist up, standing in a clear pool of water in stream. ( I hadn't even realized it was THAT clear). I got a little slip in my packet saying something along the lines of "Inappropriate picture. Walmart cannot develop."

The next day I bought a digital camera and never looked back.

So I feel for them. Been there. Done that.

ArkAngel: How does one get on a sex offender registry without having been convicted of a crime?

I assume it's similar to the abuser registry we have in Massachusetts. If you ever have a restraining order taken out against you, welcome to the list. You won't get a job working with children where they check your background. State law says the order must remain on the list even if it is later vacated. Precedent says a man who is not a lawyer can not get off the list by saying she lied but a female who is a lawyer can get off the list by saying he lied. There is no reported decision that I know saying whether a male lawyer can get off the list.

2013-03-09 04:23:37 PM
The driving demographic behind these zealous witch-hunts are parents.  So in a way this is good since nothing short of their own medicine down their throats will make them change their minds.

If we can't take a piss in public without being categorized as a child rapist then parents who photograph their kids naked should share that same level of absurd justice.  Just changing kids' diapers is suspicious activity and should be treated as such, according to their own benchmarks.

This happened in 2008. It's in the news now because an appeals court heard the case.

I expect the family to lose. In general you can't sue somebody for reporting a crime to police.

Depends on how old your daughter is.

Infant, no problem.

Fourteen, have a seat over there.
