TheGhostofFarkPast: Happy Hours: No love for Dickey's (in Dallas), Luther's (in Houston), or Stubb's in Austin?

I'm not surprised this list fails.

Dickey's is the walmart of BBQ.

Rudy's BBQ is some fine stuff yet very under appreciated

Sorry. Rudy's=Dickey's, except for breakfast, where Rudy's is a class 1 narcotic.

Can't we all BBQ lovers just get along?  Yeah, I prefer Memphis rubbed ribs, smoked, with a vinegar/pepper sauce to dip it in.  But you might prefer pulled pork with KC Masterpiece, and you over there might like half a chicken smothered in sweet ketchupy nonsense.  It doesn't matter.  We're all going to the Great Smokepit in the Sky!  The pigs throw themselves on the coals, the chickens pluck themselves.  Sausage grows on trees and the earth itself exudes a sauce that's just exactly the way you like it.  Angels have bouffonts and aprons that say "Smoke Me Big Boy", and they all talk like the women who work in Kansas truck stops on I-35.

Kiz: I adore Spring Creek in Benbrook Texas. They slice the meat right in front of you, the sauce is awesome and you get complimentary dinner rolls served as soon as they come out of the oven. Outstanding.

spring creek's meat is ok...the sides are the reason to go there

agree that dickies = walmart of bbq

riskies (sp?) is better than spring creek or dickies if you want a chain-type place

also, in the white settlement area try soda springs

I just want to take this opportunity to point out that bar-b-que is meat not sauce. I hear some folks rave about the sauce at so and so's bar-b-que joint. To hell with the sauce. If the meat underneath isn't done right you can't make it good no matter how much burnt ketchup  you slather on it.

Ha ha, you beat me to it :)

I couldn't let the injustice of someone suggesting Dickey's is good BBQ to go on so I had to act. Plus Rudy's is very good stuff yet not many people talk about it.

/Dickey's is pure junk

Oklahoma Joe's is the best barbecue in Kansas City, which makes it the best barbecue in the world. If you disagree, you are wrong.
