3StratMan: The Mrs. and I recently did 4 day day trip to Memphis, with the specific purpose of sampling the best BBQ we could find. Much research went into making our decisions on where to go. Out of the 4 places we went to, here's how we ranked them:#4- Central#3- The BarBQ Shop,#2- Corkys,#1- Germantown Commissary.Actually posted a review, with pictures, of the places on the trip, on one of the BBQ websites I frequent. GoodOmens: Central BBQ for Ribs in Memphis and Interstate BBQ for pulled pork sandwitches and BBQ spagetti./Rendezvous is for tourist//Although still delicious
3StratMan: Coach_J: There is no better evidence of the complete and utter shiatty BBQ quality in Michigan than the people who lose their collective minds for Slows in Detroit.Put that place in Memphis, KC or Texas and its doors are shuttered in a week. In Detroit, it has legendary status.X10. Haven't been able to find a place in SE Michigan yet that has better that average BBQ. Sheena Barnes in Sumpter and Randy's in the Irish Hills are supposed to be really good. Need to venture out there one of theses days.

If, of course, anyone would care to correct me, I would be much obliged.Just take a Southwest flight to KC and tool around the BBQ joints.It's something you need to do before you die, anyways, so get it out of the way.Yeah, I've been down there and had unbelievable ribs, but the visit to Texas ... lets just say that upon my return to the Boston area I never looked at the two places I mentioned with the same affection I had previously. It was an eye opening experience to find out what really really really good BBQ can be. I can't even remember the name of where I went outside Austin TX, but it was essentially a shack with smokers around it, and crowds of people. Within a mile of the place you could smell it. But holy hades, was that that amazing.
cookiefleck: In texas, sauce is more of a condiment on the table, if you want to put it on your meat.
Tobin_Lam: The place is in the middle of nowhere near Waco, TX. I don't remember what it is called but I remember it being an extremely busy place for being in the middle of nowhere. I'm not talking "small town" middle of nowhere, this place is is in a grove of trees surrounded by fields and there's an old house over yonder.

(He says that's second best.)/Good kidWilson's ribs are shiatful quality and the sauce is basically tobasco, not to mention their awful sides. But there's also no good bbq in Pittsburgh so I guess you're stuck with it.Their greens are the best and so is their pie. Ribs and chicken slow-roasted over the only wood-fired stove in the city. Service is excellent and so is the food. Best barbecue around no doubt. Better than what I've eaten in Western North Carolina. (Asheville, Bat Cave, etc,)
Smosh: The ONLY BBQ join I could find in London is Bodean's. Not the absolute best in the world, but pretty damn good for England.In NY you gotta hit Dinosaur BBQ. I go to Syracuse, but I think they are in Harlem and Rochester as well
Ooba Tooba: I asked you farkers where I should have went for BBQ while in St Louis, and was told Pappy's. Hands down the best ribs I have ever had. After our first bites, the girlfriend and I looked at each other like the guys in "blow" looked at each other after trying the Columbian cocaine for the first time. Sauce on the side baby.
vharshyde: Rudys in Austin. Order by the pound, eat off of wax paper, and your food tray is a cola crate. And its the best damn brisket and ribs on the planet.
natgod: The ribs at Fat Matt's in Atlanta are the best I've ever had. By a mile.
Kiz: I adore Spring Creek in Benbrook Texas. They slice the meat right in front of you, the sauce is awesome and you get complimentary dinner rolls served as soon as they come out of the oven. Outstanding.

By a mile.Fat Matt's is good, but Pappy's Smokehouse in St. Louis whoops their ass when it comes to ribs.I went to Franklin's in Austin this past week...waited 1+20 for my brisket and it was worth.every.minute for that succulent goodness. The espresso BBQ sauce was pretty awesome as well.When in Dallas, Mike Anderson's is the place to go.
cbuhler: Louie Mueller Barbecue, 206 W. Second St., Taylor.This is the best in Texas by far.
Infobahn: I was a neighbor with the guy that started Famous Dave's in Minnesota, and I never forgave him for not always having sausage on the menu.
