You must refer to me as 'El Conquistador'

Hopefully not Sir Ian Darke.

I agree it was hard to nail it down to just one

but if I had to put it on one guy an athlete would want to smack around... its skip

As a Seahawks fan, I appreciate Richard Sherman.  As a sports fan subjected to ESPN and Skip Bayless while I work out, I am preparing to create a shrine to Sherman.

All of them?

Saw this last night.

The day had already been great - came home to see video of my favorite player sh*tting all over the worst "personality" on TV for four minutes...as I said, I wish yesterday had a physical embodiment so I could give it a big ol' hug.

2013-03-08 12:14:35 PM
He mad.

2013-03-08 12:14:52 PM
So what will it take for Skip to lose his job? He compares himself to Cosell a lot, so I'm gonna guess nothing less than racial slur.

2013-03-08 12:16:10 PM
Oh, Bayless loved every minute of this, it builds his ahole cred, which he works very hard to accumulate.  People biatching about you earns you a much higher paycheck than people ignoring you.

2013-03-08 12:16:11 PM
While I appreciate what the Sherminator is trying to do, you just don't win a mudslinging contest with mud. Skip comes away looking like Skip and Sherm comes away looking dirty for having done what he did. This was a no-win situation and he didn't win. You don't go on the show of a guy you don't respect with the philanthropic goal of bringing him down. Because you're saying to people "watch this guy's show. Watch me on this show. I'm going to accuse him of being a terrible person while also being terrible."

No sir, this was a poor move. You are better than Skip when you refuse to stoop to his level.

2013-03-08 12:16:43 PM
It's funny....T.O.'s "legacy" started much the same way.

"He just says and does what he wants!  He lives by his own rules!  You guys hate him but I love him because he's on my team"

Stay tuned, Seahawks fans.

Ironically, in the days before, "nice" Sherman was lauded for his lectures with at-risk high school teens in a program designed to get them to get into college.  The guy seems pretty awesome all around.

He used to imply that Troy Aikman was gay, so I guess an offended gay community might seek his dismissal.

ESPN blows.

Those are the same farking retards who will laugh while failing to properly pronounce "Lemieux " and make jokes about what a silly name that is, and in the next breath talk about  Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo,

farking retards.

Yeah, unfortunately the only way trolls really disappear is if they are ignored.  It's like the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.  The only way to survive is to not look.

2013-03-08 12:20:53 PM
That said, I do agree that it only benefits Skip. Look at all the stories saying how mean Sherman was and what a jerk he is for pointing out that Bayless sucks at what his job is allegedly (he doesn't get listed as "troll", which is his actual job that he's pretty good at). No one talking about how Bayless' whole act is criticizing the best players in the world at their jobs while elevating guys who aren't all that good.

It WOULD be great if this inspired every single person who came on First Take to pick up the slack and berate Skip for their entire segments until ESPN realized that having a complete phony blowhard as the face of a franchise isn't going to continue to work out.

It's one thing to shill for established powers, as many of the other hosts do, which is obnoxious in one way. It's entirely another thing to act as though the most established powers aren't any good because of your personal opinion (okay, probably not even his personal opinion, unless he's literally the stupidest person alive), which is the sh*t Bayless spews.

You know, I am legit surprised that there are people out there who think that Bayless and about 98% of ESPN personnel don't suck.  Are there actually ESPN apologists out there?

Which made it all the better. He out-Skip'd Skip on Skip's own show. He's better than him at blasting people, too, because he doesn't chickensh*t his way out when he sees the person in person.

Trent Williams wants to swing on him? Do it, then.
Referee tells him not to do whatever or else he's going to throw a flag? Do it, then.
Skip Bayless wants to invite him on the show under the guise of talking about the SWAG program, then have the show lead off with bringing up a month-old story and Skip revealing his ignorance over and over? If you want to troll me, I'm just going to call out what you are.

And Skip agreed with him on most of it because he knows it's true.

Well, since many of the people that write columns out there either a) want to work for ESPN, or b) are part of the media, which hopes they never get called on their stupid bullsh*t opinons...yeah, there are plenty of people caping up for Skip.

The best way to deal with Skip Feckless is the Aaron Rogers method - just pretend they don't exist, and when reporters parrot a question that Worst Take runs into the ground, just smile and ask, "Where would you get a silly idea like that?"

IMO it's when he not-so-subtlety digs on Vandy as being beneath Stanford. So rare you hear and athlete smack talking about academics.

True, but that was "Buffalo, of all places, just sent me my walking papers, and I gotta look good for the next team to pick me up before old age catches up" TO, not the tool that the Niners, Eagles, Cowboys, or even the Bills dealt with.

I like both ways. Obviously, you don't want your QBs/team leaders going out and doing things like this. But players at different positions, who are already outspoken? Sure.

I'm up for half the people ignoring the fact that he exists and the others just spending the entire time disrespecting him and ignoring all the crap that ESPN wants to talk about. Just until Bayless is fired. Or changes his schtick and maybe learns something about a sport.

Obviously, I am not, but it sounds like Gottlieb at least said something more substantive than Skip Bayless, so he's got that going for him (which is nice).

you should check out Jay Mohr's show (rome's old time slot and probably channel, in your market).  He drops into an amazing Screamin' A pretty regularly.  *PISH!*  PUUUUUHHH-LEEEEZE.

2013-03-08 12:45:27 PM
While I respect and appreciate Richard Sherman's trolling and fantastic play, I still love Aaron Rodger's poke at Skippy.

In 2011, Skip said Rodgers should have gotten the Packers together during the lockout like Brees had with the Saints since they would now start slow and be behind.  After putting up 42 points, Rodgers said in the post game:  "It was a good start for us," said Rodgers. "I was going to ask myself, what would have happened if we had had offseason workouts? I mean, could we have started any faster and scored more points tonight?"

2013-03-08 12:46:31 PM

This Looks Fun: And yes, he left that segment looking like the bigger douche.

Only to people that haven't seen Bayless throughout the years.

It's pants-on-head retarded to say that Sherman isn't anywhere near as good as Revis. And people give Revis CREDIT for being out all last year with an injury. "You can't say Sherman is better than Revis because Revis was out all last year." Actually, that makes him WAY better than Revis, doesn't it? Revis has a chance to get back into the conversation of best in the league, but if we can't say Sherman is above Revis' level because Revis didn't play, then we can pretty much take away all of Revis' great years because Sherman wasn't in the league yet, by that logic.

Pockafrusta: Still think the same of Skip, but I think less of Sherman now.

I haven't heard the interview but there's nothing wrong with calling someone out when deserved.  Bayless is the worst kind of sports "journalist";  he just says shiat to say shiat.  the only reason you don't see Jay Mariotti doing this is because he's still persona non grata for his DV arrest.  they had the same shtick:  say a bunch of BS, generate controversy, "stir the pot", etc.  sounds like Sherman just pulled his punk card.  just like people here are comparing it rightfully to the Bowtie/Stewart deal a few years back.

or, in another example, how Mark Cuban went  after......I forget....Deadspin or some other columnist recently.  cuban basically called BS on something and in detail, broke down why it was BS.

What I love is that Sherman and Rodgers were two of my favorite players before then. To have them both be noted for sh*tting on Skip Bayless only cements their awesomeness.

/sadly, Bayless would accept being literally sh*t on if it meant ratings and money
//dude has no self-respect at all
///or, again, he's the stupidest person in the history of mankind when it comes to analyzing sports
////with a degree from Vandy, I'm gonna guess it's the fact that he's a desperate sellout attention whore who stands for nothing and does whatever his bosses tell him to without any questions

2 douches do not make a high ratings day?

2 douches do not help paris hilton?

Like I said before, I don't think Sherman really takes anything seriously. He probably starting laughing his own ass off once that interview ended.
