You watched that entire video, and that's ALL you got from it?!

Okay, good, because that's what I got from it, too.

Your waitress is paid below minimum wage and is taxed on her tips whether or not you actually leave a tip.
You should try being a waiter/waitress some time and see how it works.

I would try being a waitress, but I was born with the wrong equipment?
I would try being a waitress, but decided to have a real career?
I would try being a waitress, but I can't stop spitting on other people's food?
I would try being a waitress, but hooters says I got a butterface?

As Mr. Pink would say...

It would seem to me that waitresses are one of the many groups the government farks in the ass on a regular basis. Look, if you show me a piece of paper that says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it, put it to a vote, I'll vote for it, but what I won't do is play ball. And this non-college bullshiat you're givin' me, I got two words for that: learn to farkin' type, 'cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent you're in for a big farkin' surprise.

Some are paid below minimum wage (depends on the state)...and if you leave cash tips some (if not most) will not declare those and are not taxed on them. The places I worked it was not unusual to see people walking out with 200-300 just in tips on a good night. And those were your basic family style joints nothing high end. When the hell did every food slinging job become some sob story? I know many servers who make quite a decent living at it. I know some bartenders who make more than a lot of people with straight jobs.

Some people make a lot of money at it. Some don't. The people who aren't making much money at it and biatching about it all the time should start looking for a new job.

However, the "less than minimum wage" thing doesn't hold water. In my state, at least, an employee not making minimum wage including their wage and tips has the difference made up. So someone getting $2.13 plus tips who sits there inactive because nobody comes in the restaurant (or works and gets stiffed for zero tip for the whole hour) must be given an additional $5.12 by her employer so she receives minimum wage. This is true in nearly every state with a few exceptions.

Complaining that waitresses "don't make minimum wage" is simply wrong in nearly every occasion.

yep that was the same with me. (most people never really seem to understand it so I rarely ever explain it) Basically I was paid $2.15 per plus tips. Regular minimum at that time was 5.15 i think? So at the end of the day we would usually declare 4-5 bucks an hour for tips (usually just the credit card ones) to push it above the level where the company would have to make up the difference. Not a single person I worked with declared all their tips.

So from what I see, this is hard honey dusted in cornflour to keep it from sticking to itself, and hand pulled into a cotton-candy like confection, wrapped around a sweet nut paste?  Sounds delicious.  Hell, if those packs were cheap enough, I'd buy ten just for the show.  Binary progression lets you hit some mind-boggling numbers with a quickness.

/Reminds me of an old bet you can make with your manager to make yourself rich if he's dim enough to sign on.
"Pay me $0.01 for my first day, then every day after, double my pay.  After 30 days, I'll go back to my normal salary."

I don't get it. If you worked at McDonalds and the manager told you, "Hey, I'm not going to pay you minimum wage. Deal with it." You'd leave.

If the serving job sucks so badly that your boss threatens you and you're not even getting minimum wage then get out and find a different job. It's not like minimum wage jobs are hard to come by. Sitting there sucking up a net loss just for being there and then screaming that people don't give you a large enough gratuity to make up for the fact that your job blows is a waste of time.

To clarify, I'm a tipper. I have had some absolutely abysmal service and still tipped. I tip 100% sometimes. But seriously, if you can't make minimum wage as a server then STOP DOING IT. Do anything else. Flip burgers. Make pizzas. Go to basically any other restaurant. I went to a McDonalds once and there was a deaf guy running the drive-through. I worked at a pizza place for my first job and it paid more than minimum wage - and I'm shocked that some of the people who also worked there were able to keep from jabbing themselves in the eye with pizza slicers because they were so colossally dumb.
