He's taking you for a ride.  Even Mr. Paul has never questioned Obama's power to kill citizen combatants on American soil, and yet he's criticizing other senators for agreeing with that position.  This is pretty damned ridiculous.  Everyone, McCain, Paul, Obama, has the exact same view on drone usage and always has.

Does it really matter who wins the Republican nomination in 2016? The real race for the presidency will be the Dem primary. The general is just a formality these days.

although, Paul on the undercard could convince some of the far right fundies to support the relatively moderate CC. That might be dangerous. Mainly cuz Christie will probably die in office

Problem is that Rand Paul only appeals to about 15-25% of Republicans. He has minimal competition among that group, but he'll need the rest of the field to be split, much like his dad needed

True. I'd say a Christie/Bush pairing would be more likely

I think you're confusing the presidential race with the MA senate race

No, I'm pretty sure I'm talking about the Presidency. The Republicans are already behind, and are making themselves less electable every day. Not to mention that our voters are getting younger are more ethnically diverse. If the Republicans don't succeed with their MASSIVE vote rigging campaigns (which I doubt they will) then they have precisely zero chance at the presidency and won't for many election cycles to come.

Well if Rand keeps going down this path and taking stands on infringements of our liberties, he'll win over people across all party lines. This isn't a Republican vs. Democrat thing, and simply put, no democrats are willing to take passionate stands on things. Christie may be more moderate, but he can provide that extra oomph to swings some leaning dem states. Say what you will, but he is really popular in Jersey because he is putting the state's interests above party interest, and it's working. I think knowing that should they win, they will be in it for two terms plus longer if Rand keeps to his message, they would put aside their differences for the sake of America

Here's the problem:

Like in the last two races,  the second-place finisher in the last GOP primary has a good shot in '16;  Santorum managed to last through the entire primary season (unlike the wingnuts who peaked early and never made it to the primaries), so he has a national infrastructure of campaign workers for the next time around.  The GOP tightened their primary rules last time (I think there were a few states where Gingrich couldn't get on the ballot), so regardless of his numerous negatives, Santorum has a big advantage over anyone who didn't run in the last campaign.  Santorum's social views (and hell, even his farking name) are like an anchor that is weighing down the party in the next presidential election.

Chance that I would vote for Rand Paul... 0%

Le Grand Inquisitor: This isn't a Republican vs. Democrat thing, and simply put, no democrats are willing to take passionate stands on things.

So it isn't a Republican vs. Democrat thing... it's just a Democrat thing? Do you often contradict your sentences before you even finish your sentence?

Le Grand Inquisitor: Christie may be more moderate, but he can provide that extra oomph to swings some leaning dem states. Say what you will, but he is really popular in Jersey because he is putting the state's interests above party interest, and it's working.

So he's doing his job as opposed to being a toad for the Republican brand which is highly disliked because they don't have the American people's interest at heart. But you think hard right people will support him? Interesting...

Le Grand Inquisitor: I think knowing that should they win, they will be in it for two terms plus longer if Rand keeps to his message, they would put aside their differences for the sake of America

Republicans can't put aside their differences for the sake of America right now, what makes you think that will change?

Gee, are we supposed to believe that this thought only crossed his mind after his 13 hour campaign ad? Hopefully, ambitious little Rand will make himself a useful idiot and further divide the GOP. The cracks have been showing for a long time, and they just keep getting wider.

Rand Paul , like his father is a fascist, terrorist sympathizer. I hope he get the nomination.
