Well, if we can forgive your Mom for being with Marilyn Manson, Subby, then I suppose we can forgive Dita.

I know.  It's the best part of every day now.  As the technology expands my fondest hope is to 3D print some part for a rocket ship someday just for the lols.  Anyone else involved will probably think I've gone mad.

I have QA-like conversations with people in real life as well. I need to figure out a better way to articulate that the limitations on a current type of technology don't necessarily hold in the long-term.

My God, we've made a gown worn by a whore. Surely, the Rapture is nigh? I love how we just gloss over the hand assembled and painted part, too. Or how we hype up the "entirely virtual" while ignoring the world-wide infrastructure of, you know, like gloopy old factories and stuff that built the real stuff these wankers are using...

I'm just ignoring you 3D nuts because if it isn't obvious it's just stunts and trinkets by now, it never will sink in.

I'll just watch for the spike in pharmaceuticals when reality hits and Prozac goes through the roof...

You mean... we'll never just sit at home and 3D print everything from a magical machine??? BUt but but... computers and stuff? Like, Star Trek and sci-fi? You mean like, we'll have to build stuff like the Luddite way? NNNoooooo!!!!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to use my '90s virtual reality gear to visit the '70s OTRAG private space port.

I met her at Pine Valley and my life has never been the same.  She was the kind of woman who could look at a Par 5 and make you believe you could birdie with nothing but a seven iron and a sand wedge.  The way she held my putter, I knew she was trouble.

I feel the need to rant against the people who have completely unrealistic hopes and expectations of an innocuous technology. Every 3D printed Yoda coffee cup means we're just weeks away from Star Trek to some people.

I've been "promised" so much crap over the years I've just become very suspicious of extraordinary claims.

We won't live on the Moon, or have a 12 hour workweek, or 3D print spare organs to make up for our drinking habit, or have nanotechnological robots course in our veins.

We will continue to send probes to take pictures while we stay here and work 40 hours a week and shop at the grocery store.

I just don't see any more big changes coming from the manufacturing or engineering branches. Lots of little things here and there, but there won't be something like the wood to coal to oil, horses to trains to jet planes again.

No 3D printed warp drives to colonize the universe leisurely. Nope. Sorry.

Love the dress!  It is even cooler that it is "printed" and not sewn.

On another note, Dita always looks so good.  I love her style and you very rarely see her looking like a slag in public.  She has that sultry, femme-fatale, dominatrix thing going on.  Oh how I wish I could pull that off every single day!

I am completely jealous of her style.  I need to go buy some 6" heels and red lipstick!

Sigh!

And that's the root of all your problems. You seem to genuinely think that showing an interest in 3d printing means we're all counting down the hours till they release a Star Trek type food creator from thin air-a-ma-jig. Just like how you think that showing an interest in space means we all think it's just a matter of weeks till we get to Alpha Centauri.

You need to step back and realise that no one is expecting such things. Some people are hopeful that maybe they might see some progress in their lifetime, but most people, myself included, expect that we were born several hundred years too soon and will never experience space flight. That doesn't stop people hoping though. You are offended by hope, let the people hope.

I approve of this notion.   And the Coolest thing about Dita? She's really farking bright.  I got a half-hour's gracious conversation from her after I "saved" her from a drunken over-enthusiastic fan who was hitting on her (My buddy's date, as it happened), and I came away even more impressed by her brains that even her..."attributes"
