I had the pleasure of reading "The Female Brain" a while back...let's just say, the entire book is one giant 'mommy circlejerk' of how childbearing is just totes teh most magical event evar.

Seconded. Although in my case, I was holding my daughter and happened to look over 'cause I heard the nurse tell my wife to push again. I thought I was getting twins, what I got was placenta. SPLURP. AAAAaaaagghh!
