Girls, don't let anyone ever tell you are pretty. If they do, don't believe them.

FTA..."I just really began to see how I don't need makeup to be beautiful," said Madeline Milby, 17, vice president of the student congress and a senior at PSHS, which is in the Dallas suburbs. "There's so much more to me. It's your personality, your passion and what's inside your heart."

She sounds fat.

Girls..... your 17..... the boys won't even notice you're not wearing makeup. Why waste an hour and a half of your day for something that means nothing?

2013-03-08 12:15:38 AM
Let's try to keep things in perspective here.

Texas girls are more beautiful without makeup-because they cake two pounds of the stuff on every day.

I'm cool with the girls not wearing make-up. They really should show their natural beauty as they're only so young for so short a time.

/Oh, we're talking about high school girls?
//My bad, I thought they were in elementary grades.

My stepdaughter does this kind of thing regularly.  The school is happy if her boots don't have horse shiat on them from her morning ride.

So?  The whole point of makeup is to reduce your apparent age, if you're 16 - 18 then to look more attractive you usually have to look  older.

I didn't know HS girls wear makeup to school. I would hazard a guess only a small percentage does that anyway. When I was in HS most girls don't wear makeup albeit that was over 20 yrs ago but I doubt the typical HS girl today has change that much since then.

I get by with a swipe of neutral eyeshadow, lip gloss and a moisturizer with an SPF alone, because sun damage will make you look even older than too much makeup will...but I'm also twenty-seven and look about twenty-one, so that may change if I ever start to age. My mom and sister spend like forty minutes a day putting on and later removing their makeup, but I just can't be arsed.

And yet I get more attention from guys, which Mom doesn't mind, but sister has always been puzzled by.

Like I tell her, 'Sis, if you know how to talk about cars, guns, gaming PCs and homemade beer and pick a shirt that makes the most of your natural assets, guys could not care less about eyeshadow.'

Haven't read the thread yet, but...

No... Really. Have you seen "Glamor Photography Studio" photographs of some people's S/O's on their desks?

Some people really do look better without makeup.

Some people look good in complex Victorian lingerie, some do better wearing nothing but a button and a bow. If you figure out your place in that spectrum then you'll probably look a lot nicer.

/ dammit, if you're happy, you're already going to *own* anyone.

2013-03-08 01:11:08 AM
I've never particularly cared whether girls wear makeup or not.
It's not like I don't see the difference, and no doubt it can look nice, but at the same time it doesn't actually alter the things that I find attractive about them.

The way I look at it, if you can't tell whether a girl is hot whether she is wearing makeup or not, you're in for a lot of coyote ugly moments.

She decided on a standard that she's pressuring other people to meet. If you like wearing makeup and someone pressures you not to, you're altering your looks to meet someone else's standard.

Who knows, maybe she naturally has a great complexion and it pisses her off that other girls can look like they do too with a little makeup. Maybe she found out someone she doesn't like has rosacea or something and wants to expose the truth about that biatch for all to see.

Yogimus: akuma976: Some Crafty ALL the girls gonna sneak some foundation or something on just to stick it to the other girls

Ugh. Flashback to high-school: conservative (i.e. "plain") upbringing, and all the popular girls said "Yeah, we just rolled out of bed with perfect skin, straight hair and lovely lashes." And I BELIEVED them, and I HONESTLY couldn't figure out why I was the only ugly duckling of the world. Had never heard of natural makeup, didn't understand what hairdryers accomplished, had NO CLUE that well-fitting clothes made bodies look better. The Horror. Sure, one well-placed close friendship could have been enough to enlighten me, but I was a social pariah because of the hair/clothes/face thing.

I was twenty-six before I discovered what work goes into beauty, but by then was getting laid often enough that I didn't see the point in adopting the art. Even now I'm sure better clothes would help me get more respect at work, but I feel like a drag queen wearing them. So halfway happy ending. MY man doesn't seem to mind, and it saves us from clutter in the bathroom.

Lol, whatever.  You could argue that from some sort of technical semantic standpoint I suppose, but I think that really just misses the entire point.  Suggesting a voluntary no-makeup clause for ONE DAY is hardly some onerous new standard for girls to meet.  The gesture isn't about setting a new standard, it is about teaching people exactly what the current one entails and what its effects are.

Hoopy Frood: Who knows, maybe she naturally has a great complexion and it pisses her off that other girls can look like they do too with a little makeup.

... or maybe she hates wasting an hour every morning slathering on expensive makeup and thought it might be a nice gesture to drop the act for a day and show guys what girls look like underneath all the work they go through before school?  I think it's a nice idea as ineffectual well-intentioned teenage ideas go, and with luck a few guys will learn a little bit about the intersection between their expectations and the lives of real girls..

FTFA "I just really began to see how I don't need makeup to be beautiful," said Madeline Milby, 17, vice president of the student congress and a senior at PSHS, which is in the Dallas suburbs. "There's so much more to me. It's your personality, your passion and what's inside your heart.

But not your physical appearance, it seems, unless you trowel on the make up.

2013-03-08 03:43:04 AM
As someone who loves makeup and spends a crap ton of money on makeup, I regularly go without makeup.

I like giving my face a chance to breathe. And even when I do wear makeup the majority of it goes on my eyes. The only time I ever wear foundation is for pictures (ie family portraits, standing up in a wedding etc) otherwise it is tinted moisturizer mixed with a little illuminator.

Even with my heaviest hand I cannot match the amount of makeup I see some high school aged girls wearing. I have tried (I didn't go out that way) to over use bronzer, tried to give myself that stupid foundation line along the jaw, layered mascara and eyeliner and it did not come close to what they do to themselves. I have no idea what they are doing or who lied and told them that was acceptable.

/it takes me a loooong time to get ready
//I find doing my makeup relaxing

2013-03-08 04:08:53 AM
I have never worn more make-up in my life, nor spent so much time getting ready, than I did in my high school years. As a senior, switching into an all-girls school, it was a relief because no one more much make up if any at all and we could boycott shaving our legs and no one cared. Every boyfriend I've had preferred me without make up and I think the real key to make up is to enhance but not change. I like to even out my skin tone with a tinted moisturizer with SPF. Simple is better.

911Jenny: As someone who loves makeup and spends a crap ton of money on makeup, I regularly go without makeup.

I have no idea what they are doing or who lied and told them that was acceptable.

good, I never liked makeup...

My wife rarely wears it, but when she does, it's usually with semiformal clothing, so in my mind the two kind of go together.

As a matter of fact, one of the lines I first used on her was that she looked great without makeup.  That and we spoke of books and reading, which she apparently had not talked about with many other dating prospects.

If you pinch your cheeks, they'll glow.  Try to break some capillaries.

Ladies pinch.  Whores use rouge.

Theaetetus: SuperNinjaToad: I didn't know HS girls wear makeup to school. I would hazard a guess only a small percentage does that anyway.

This is Texas - I'd bet it's upwards of 90%.

High school in the South? More like 100% (at least when I was in high school) In the morning, the bathrooms were packed usually with girls who weren't allowed to wear makeup to school-putting on makeup. The girls who were allowed would be in there too-putting on more.

/but that's been nearly 11 years

When I took this job, I purposely did not wear makeup the first day because I figured these people won't know the difference, they've never seen me before, and now I shower the night before and can be ready for work in 10 minutes.  It's awesome, all that extra sleep in the mornings.

Which I'm going to need next week what with moving the clocks forward, godammit all to hell.

Anyhoo, my niece has the most gorgeous ice blue eyes and she can just about knock your socks off when she doesn't wear makeup, or wears minimal makeup.  Unfortunately she usually looks like a hooker.  Teenagers.

Makeup is what my wife puts on to go see women she doesn't like (work). Makeup is what she takes off when she comes home to me. When she asks what I think of this lipstick color, the answer is "Who farkin cares?"

Women be shoppin.

This is fine for the pretty girls, but it's totally gonna "out" the ugmos.

A couple things I've learned in my 46 years:

1.  Girls don't wear makeup and dress nice to impress the guys.  They do it to impress other girls.  They know guys don't give a damn.

2.  Wearing makeup daily is required in order to pull off the "I'm feeling sick.  You all mind if I cut my shift really short today" stunt at work.  A female supervisor told me years ago that anytime a woman says this, check to see if she is wearing makeup that day.  You may think she looks really sick, but it could be that she usually wears makeup and left it off that morning for a better effect.

3.  The best looking girls IMHO, were those 1970's sun bleached blondes that were tanned bronze from lifeguarding at the community pool all summer.  No makeup, just natural hotness.  Yeah, they're all wrinkly and melanoma stricken now, but hey, they gave a 10 year old kid a lifetime of memories.

Picking a day to go without panties would be more effective.

Reminds me of a joke.

Why do girls wear makeup and perfume?

Because they're ugly, and they smell bad.

I hate to break it to them, but boys at that age, probably not looking at the girl's face all that much.

The ONLY males who care about make-up are gay.

2013-03-08 09:56:10 AM
Don't wear makeup, personally, but hey, more power to you if you do. For me it is mostly out of laziness, being cheap, and the fact that I think it is bad for your skin. So far I am 31 and look somewhat younger. I am sure that genetics will catch up to me in a year or so and everything will fall apart.

/good for those girls, hope that they don't cheat

SuperNinjaToad: AirForceVet: I'm cool with the girls not wearing make-up. They really should show their natural beauty as they're only so young for so short a time.

//My bad, I thought they were in elementary grades.

I didn't know HS girls wear makeup to school. I would hazard a guess only a small percentage does that anyway. When I was in HS most girls don't wear makeup albeit that was over 20 yrs ago but I doubt the typical HS girl today has change that much since then.

Makeup! Ain't nobody got time for that!

2013-03-08 11:45:06 AM
Of course it's not for the guys. If she has enough self-esteem at that age to try such an experiment, kudos to her. I sure as hell wouldn't have. Pasty color, bad acne (make up made it worse but at that age), and big blue veins under my eyes. A long winter combined with fluorescent lighting, I would have looked like Uncle Fester from the Adams Family. Guys could be hurtful with their remarks but no one on this planet can be as judgmental as a teenage girl.

Sigh, this was my high school (class of 2009), embarrassing. But I'll tell ya, if I had experienced that it woulda felt like Rod Serling was about to talk at the beginning of every class to tell me what I'd done wrong.

Woman are stupid.

Wear makeup or dont but dont go around stating you are beautiful. Most people without makeup are pretty hideous. We as humans are normally seeing people who upkeep their image, its expected to be done with everyone. So its absolutely ok to tell someone they look bad when they look bad.

SpiderQueenDemon: I get by with a swipe of neutral eyeshadow, lip gloss and a moisturizer with an SPF alone, because sun damage will make you look even older than too much makeup will...but I'm also twenty-seven and look about twenty-one, so that may change if I ever start to age.

A toast:  To those of the feminine persuasion that get "it".

Jim_Callahan: So?  The whole point of makeup is to reduce your apparent age, if you're 16 - 18 then to look more attractive you usually have to look  older.

When I and every other girl in the entire middle school were 13 years old, the idea of globbing on make-up was to appear older. Isn't it common knowledge that every teen wants to looks older and everyone in their 30s and up wants to look younger? Newsflash: Make-up can totally change your appearance.

scanman61: Arthur Jumbles: Girls...

They don't do it for the boys. They do it to fit in with the other girls.

So much the truth. We're conditioned from birth to like make-up and focus on looks and be completely empty on the inside and glamorous on the outside, just so our fellow girlfriends won't make fun of us for being, "tomboys," or more accurately, "dikes," which is what I was called 20+ years ago for not being as interested in "girl stuff." In the Toys-R-Us - or even in Target/Wal-Mart/everywhere - aisles, toys are divided by gender. The pink stuff, get-in-the-kitchen sets, dolls, fake fingernails, nail polish, sparkly lip gloss, pretend hair blow dryers, pretend vacuum cleaner aisles are on one side, and the fun stuff like chemistry sets, little guitars/music toys, superhero action figures are all in the boys' section. It's kind of disgusting what girls are supposed to play with and who they're supposed to idolize. We're taught from day one that we are only of value if we look good, not for our actions or for our talents. Very sad raising little girls in this superficial world.

Any woman who never lets you see her without makeup is not someone you want to stay with.
besides that, facial cumshots ruin that shiat every time.
Only kidding, ladies.
you are lovely in your natural face. Believe it!

I prefer my SO with nothing on (don't stop there you perverts) in terms of makeup..Most people do not consider her pretty but i do, which is weird because i am picky about looks.

You asked most people? :)
Most people are used to seeing women with makeup, which gives the illusion of good skin and can give facial contours. I don't like it myself, although I do look pretty good in it. Without it, I look pretty plain, a little washed out, and can't disguise my slight extra chin or narrow the look of my nose, but it's me. And I know darn well lots of other women don't actually look any better.
