A southerner who adopted a minority? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

2013-03-07 08:25:16 PM
That's what I would do, or something similar.  I just wouldn't want that much money.  Sure, I'd quit my job and take some trips, but I'd give most of it away.  I'd live a life of modest luxury and fun and then get some shiat fixed up that needs it.

Scholarships is a great idea.  People needs college.

CSB time.
I was doing a tour down south (not Missouri) and while we stopped to refuel, the road manager (brutal dictator), and myself, went into the store to buy beer and stuff.
Although there were only 5 people in line ahead of us, it was taking forever.
We were in line for over 20 minutes, because the clerk insisted on having an extended conversation with everybody he met.

"Where ya from?" What part?" "My wife has family there, right outside of..."
Finally with the bus honking, and everybody waiting for us outside, there was only one person ahead of us who just wanted directions.

The clerk replied "sure, I'm from Missourah, the show me state, why don't you grab one of those maps over there, and we'll figure this thing out"

Road manager:" AND I'M FROM NEW YORK, THE BLOW ME STATE!
Can I pay for this shiat, and get the hell out of here already?
It's not supposed to take a half hour to buy a bag of FARKING POTATO CHIPS AT A FARKING CONVENIENCE STORE!
I'm on a schedule, or at least I was".

I was speechless, as was everybody else.
He calmly paid, stuffed a 20 in whatever charity mayonnaise jar it was on the counter, and we left.

Absolutely true CSB.

Did I hear you say you wanted even more CSB?

I was only 6 years old, but still I have the pictures, and autographs.
We used to live a couple of doors down (1332 College Ave).from Cozy Cole, a legendary jazz drummer.
He was having a cookout with a bunch of his neighbors, us included, and some famous friends as well.
Louis Armstrong was in attendance.

I was playing with the Cole's Cocker Spaniel, when the dog decided that I needed a pierced earing, and that he should be that earing.
I ran around in terror for a few seconds, before the dog let go.

$136 million would be enough to get you invited to angel funding rounds on Sand Hill road.

Then again I sorta know what goes on there. I'd hate to be one of the beggars there, but it might be a blast to fund the next game changer and get a significant % of the company stock when it IPO's. Although I'd be perfectly happy to have a company I have a 20% share of for $200k investment sell to Google for a billion.

City officials were estimating it would take around 25 years to complete the treatment works so the couple stepped in donating $50,000. It will allow families in the town to do away with individual septic tanks.

Oh fark that.  They don't ALLOW you to do away with septic tanks, they demand you do it.  Then they demand yearly payments for your brand new sewer system.

If the town is really less than 500 people, a sewer system might not be necessary.  I'm on 45 acres, and people float the idea of a sewer system for our town every year because the 100 people who live close together could really use one.  The rest of us don't need it, and it would be needlessly expensive to put us on the line.  My family could rock Norovirus diarrhea every day for 100 years and not make any appreciable impact on the land.

It sounds like they are letting their city have sewers. I don't see any problem with that. I bet that it was something the city wanted but just couldn't afford.

Yeah, I'm guessing that the sewage plant in that picture costs a tiny bit more than $50,000.

$50k would pay the salary and benefits of 1 unskilled laborer for about a year. While their gesture is nice, it wouldn't really have much of an impact on the operations, I'm guessing.

Besides, donating that money would mean there'd be $50k less to spend on hookers and blow.
